This provision is outstanding
The childminder successfully reviews and evaluates her practice. She makes exceptional use of regular training opportunities and keeps up to date with new ideas. This helps to provide children with activities that motivate, stimulate and fully engage them in their learning. Children are extremely settled and confident. They have an excellent relationship with the childminder that helps to support their emotional well-being and self-esteem. The childminder works closely with other settings that children attend and early years professionals. For example, she shares children's achievements and her planning to promote excellent consistency for children in their learning and development. Children make outstanding progress in relation to their starting points. They learn an extremely wide range of skills to help them prepare for the next stage in their learning. Children behave exceptionally well. The childminder uses highly successful strategies to

help them learn how to behave. For example, she introduces timers to help children take turns and share popular resources.

strengthen even further the excellent range of opportunities for children to extend their early reading skills.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home that children use. The inspector observed the childminder interacting with the children. The inspector sampled written documentation, including children's progress reports, policies and procedures. The inspector spoke to children, parents and the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder monitors and tracks children's progress exceptionally well. For example, she identifies gaps in their development and provides individual support to help children catch up. The childminder maintains excellent communication with parents and builds an extremely trusting partnership. For example, she regularly shares children's achievements, which helps to promote excellent consistency in their learning and development. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extensive knowledge of how to keep children safe and knows who to contact if she has any concerns.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder skilfully builds on spontaneous events. For example, children are extremely excited by the regular visits of a squirrel in the garden. They have affectionately named him 'Cyril the squirrel' and leave food out for him. The childminder plans trips to extend children's interests. For example, she uses their interest in transport and takes them on a ferry and a train to provide children with experience of different ways to travel. Children have excellent opportunities to develop their early writing skills. However, the childminder does not fully build on opportunities to encourage them to extend their early reading skills. Children have inspirational opportunities to develop their understanding of differences within society. For example, they choose foods from around the world and use different techniques to eat, such as eating Chinese food with chopsticks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children develop excellent physical abilities and enjoy a wide range of opportunities to extend their physical skills further. For example, they visit the woods and use the low-level branches to test their climbing skills, and use large play equipment to explore movement and balance. Children have excellent knowledge of the world around them. For example, they grow daffodils and record their heights. Children even entered their daffodils into a local flower competition. Children have an exceptional knowledge of how to keep themselves and others safe. For example, they learn how to call for an ambulance in an emergency and practise basic first aid in role play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make exceptional progress, including those who are learning English as an additional language. They develop exceptional communication and speaking skills. For example, children confidently talk about a trip to the butterfly centre and make links to a well-known story. Children develop extremely good social skills. For example, they help each other, show respect and consider each other's feelings. Children are very well prepared and ready for the next stage in their learning.
