This provision is outstanding

 Staff have an excellent knowledge of children's progress, established through meticulous assessments. Parents supply detailed information to ensure staff can understand, and add to, the progress children make. The manager checks children's progress very precisely to ensure that they meet nearly all children's learning needs.  Staff develop exceedingly strong partnerships with parents. These help to provide children with high levels of continuity in care so they can thrive in the nursery. Where children attend other settings, staff ensure that information is shared quickly to support children's development.  Children are taught extremely well and make excellent progress. Those who have special educational needs or disability make swift progress to achieve good outcomes. Good use of external support, such as working closely with a speech therapist, helps children to make excellent progress in their language and communication skills.

This provision is outstanding

 Children are cared for exceptionally well. Their behaviour is excellent. Children learn how to be safe and healthy. They show a deep understanding of how to keep themselves safe. They eat healthy snacks and enjoy their frequent outdoor exercise.  The manager and staff provide outstanding opportunities for children to develop to their full potential. They achieve this through highly evaluative practice that takes strong consideration of the views of parents and children.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 develop ways of helping children to see or hear other languages to aid their understanding of those from differing backgrounds.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities indoors and outdoors.  The inspector talked with staff, children and the manager at appropriate times throughout the inspection.  The inspector looked at children's assessment records, planning documentation, and checked evidence of suitability and qualifications of staff.  The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The manager and staff exude confidence in their knowledge of safeguarding procedures. They follow strict procedures to ensure children's welfare. The staff team works together exceptionally well to support children in their development. The manager follows robust systems to support the well-qualified staff in maintaining high standards. For example, she acts as an exceptional example to others and is greatly involved in teaching the children. Staff have wonderful opportunities to extend their professional knowledge and to put it to excellent use. For example, a recent course led staff to consider allowing children to have 'personal space'. As a result, they changed the setting around to create more quiet areas that children can use.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff have exceptional teaching skills. Children become mesmerised as they listen to explanations of the activities in which they can participate. Staff use exceedingly well- worded questions with careful timing, to encourage children to consider and develop their own ideas. Children respond eagerly to the challenges they receive and engage intensely in activities that promote learning across the Early Years Foundation Stage. For example, they consider how to save their toy bear in the garden using blocks to make a footpath. Staff show high regard to teaching children to accept and tolerate differences between people from a range of backgrounds. However, children do not readily see or hear different languages used in contrasting places or cultures to aid their understanding.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Staff ensure a wonderfully happy atmosphere in the setting. They radiate warmth in their interactions with children. Children are secure and confident. They operate with extremely high levels of independence as they make choices about the activities they participate in and become engrossed in their play. Staff nurture children greatly to develop confidence. For example, they celebrate their achievements frequently. Children behave impeccably and have wonderful manners. Children develop exceptional social skills, for example, they work together to build towers, taking turns and sharing resources without prompting. Staff prepare children exceedingly well for their future education.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children develop essential skills extremely well. For example, they develop their early writing skills by painting with shaving foam to form letters. They develop their coordination skills and write their names carefully with their fingers. Children love stories and enjoy activities that relate to their favourites. Children are confident in knowing their numbers and use different resources to develop their counting skills.
