 enhance the ways to monitor the already outstanding quality of teaching through incisive evaluations of the impact of practice for children.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and co-childminder.  The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as learning profiles for children, the childminder's self-evaluation and evidence of the childminder's, co-childminder's and her assistant's suitability to work with children.  The inspector obtained verbal and written feedback from parents and took account of their views.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder has exceptionally high standards and expectations for her practice and for the children who attend. She attends training to help ensure her teaching is highly responsive to the needs of children. For example, she recently accessed training to help develop children's communication skills. This helped her to develop further activities to promote their language. The childminder monitors the practice of her co-childminder and her assistant through regular supervision. However, there is scope to extend this even further through more robust evaluation of the quality of teaching. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has attended training to help keep children safe online. She is confident to identify, record and report concerns about their welfare. Parents are eager to leave feedback for the childminder. They say they are amazed at the progress their children make and overwhelmed at the amount of effort the childminder puts in.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder uses every opportunity to help children to learn and make the best possible progress. Her teaching is of the highest quality and inspirational to others. It has a positive impact on the rate at which children learn. For example, children thoroughly enjoy group activities and even the youngest children are able to recognise their names on the laminated cards. The childminder challenges older children to recognise numerals of significance and they talk confidently about the days of the week. She plans focused activities which help children to make specific progress on their individual targets. For example, children are excited to complete a writing activity and enjoy spending one-to- one time with the childminder as she provides words of praise for their efforts.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder has highly effective ways to help children settle in. She offers home visits, flexible visits to the setting and collects a wealth of information in relation to their care needs. For example, the childminder uses an All about me record which she reviews regularly to maintain the most current knowledge of children. This helps her to meet their needs exceptionally well and they have secure bonds with her. The childminder helps children to gain an excellent understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle. The youngest children are able to help themselves to fresh drinking water and enjoy talking about the fresh vegetables they have planted in the growing patch. Young children are extremely independent and take an active part in their own self-care. For example, they are very proud to collect and display stickers as they use the toilet for the first time.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make excellent progress in relation to their starting points. The majority of children are working at stages higher than typically expected for their age. For example, children are exceptionally well prepared for school. They are beginning to make plausible attempts at spelling and show confidence in writing their names. Children have excellent social skills and show high levels of independence. They are eager to join in activities and share their achievements.
