This provision is good
Staff interact warmly with the children. They are particularly good at involving children in activities and supporting children when they choose to play on their own. They encourage children to be sociable and play well together. Managers provide a good range of equipment, and staff work hard to make the environment welcoming for the children. Children benefit from having a special person who is responsible for them during the sessions. They build strong relationships with their key persons and clearly show that they feel secure. Staff communicate well with parents. They talk to them about what their children have been doing so that they are fully informed of their children's time at the setting.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not always encourage children to understand about safety and good table manners when they are eating, to fully promote their good health and social skills. Staff do not always fully consider how they can organise the sessions to better support children who choose to play in the outdoor environment.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed staff and children, and spoke with them at appropriate times. The inspector spoke to parents to gain their views of the setting. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies, safeguarding procedures, some staff information, records of attendance, accident and medication information, and children's records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The managers monitor and evaluate the provision and children's experiences well, to drive continuous improvement. They talk to parents and children to make sure that their views are considered as part of the evaluation process. Managers receive some support from the local authority and take on board their suggestions to improve practice. For example, staff now provide healthier, nutritious snacks. Safeguarding is effective. The managers and staff have a good understanding of the procedures to follow in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. Managers monitor and support staff well. They provide staff with good professional development opportunities to help them improve their skills. Staff work well together as a team. They build positive relationships with staff at the local schools that children attend, to help promote continuity of care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The managers and staff plan a good range of activities and play opportunities that link to children's interests and abilities. For example, children thoroughly enjoy cooking. Each week they follow different recipes; for example, as they make cakes and their own pizzas with healthy toppings. Staff interact well with the children. For example, some join in as children play a board game and practise taking turns and counting the moves. Other staff support children well with their creative activities. Children enjoyed building with different construction materials and talked about the dinosaurs they were making.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children clearly enjoy their time in the setting. They confidently choose what they would like to play with and staff show a genuine interest in what the children say and do. Children behave well and cooperate with others as they play. They follow good hygiene routines and are independent with managing their personal care needs. They have good opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, they walk to the setting from school and enjoy playing with a good range of resources that encourage their physical development. Children understand about road safety and learn to use the equipment safely during their play.
