This provision is good
The care of children is exceptional. The childminder provides children with unending support, patience and attention during play at her home-from-home setting. Children benefit greatly from her purposeful interaction and guidance. Children behave impeccably and play extremely harmoniously with their friends; all of whom are different ages. It is a setting where fun and friendships are embraced and interwoven expertly by the dedicated childminder. There is excellent attention to promoting a healthy lifestyle. For example, children gain plenty of exercise each day, walking to and from school and tuck into home-cooked meals during a very sociable mealtime sat around the kitchen table. The childminder manages and supervises a large group of children with various needs extremely well. She pays close attention to their safety and well-being at all times. For example, on the route home from school she does regular headcounts and promotes

road safety. The childminder reflects on her practice well. She liaises successfully with parents and other providers who care and educate the children to ensure that she is fully aware of each child's unique needs.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Play resources for younger children in the early years age range are lacking. Therefore the play programme for children in their leisure time is not exceptional.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's play activities and the childminder's interactions with children. The inspector undertook a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about the safeguarding and welfare of the children. The inspector sampled some safeguarding and leadership documentation. The inspector viewed written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of procedures to protect children and knows what to do in the event of any concerns. She ensures that the required documentation is complete and well organised. The dedicated childminder shows a strong commitment to the service she offers. Since the previous inspection, she has kept up to date with good practice. She has improved the way she records children's daily attendance, which is now clear and precise. This helps with the day-to-day management of her busy setting and to plan successfully for all the children's needs. The childminder reads good practice guidance, gains positive feedback from parents and amends her practice accordingly.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder meets children's play needs well, providing a good range of activities for them to enjoy in their leisure time. Children have fun with their friends and siblings. They are fully engaged, well-motivated and make their own play decisions. Children's choices include making and flying aeroplanes in the garden, playing football, reading, and being creative with different media and materials. It is a busy setting with all children very happily involved in different play opportunities. The childminder is vigilant and close by, supporting the children well. She talks to them and provides good opportunities for them to build on the knowledge and skills they have already learnt. For example, on the walk home from school, she encourages children to talk about their understanding of mini- beasts, and to count on their fingers which children they are collecting from 'big school'.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children thrive in the care of the childminder who is extremely well-organised and very receptive to their needs. The excellent attention to promote strong levels of confidence among the children and secure emotional attachments shines through. For example, they often have conversations about feelings and friendships. Children are very safe and secure in the attractive home-from-home environment. The stimulating environment both inside and outside provides very well for children's play needs and all-round development. For example, children relish the freedom of the outdoors, excitedly setting up play activities on blankets on the grass after arriving back from school. They enjoy the physical challenges of jumping on and off a tree trunk. The childminder meets children's physical and nutritional needs extremely well. She encourages older children to take responsibility at mealtimes and creates a strong 'big family' atmosphere, where each child feels highly
