This provision is good
The childminder is a positive role model and teaches children good manners and behaviour. Children are polite and behave well, and learn to adapt their behaviour and play well with others. Children develop good listening and speaking skills. The childminder communicates effectively with them and asks questions to encourage their thinking. Children develop key skills for future learning. The childminder attends training specific to the children's needs. This has helped her to support younger children more effectively. The childminder accurately monitors and reviews children's progress. She plans well to meet their individual learning needs and close gaps promptly with additional support. Children develop a good understanding of the differences and similarities within society. They enjoy learning about music from other cultures.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder occasionally misses opportunities for children to be more creative during planned activities and do things for themselves. The childminder does not always organise changes in routine and group times effectively to engage children more in learning opportunities.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home that children use. The inspector observed the childminder interacting with the children. The inspector sampled written documentation, including children's progress reports, and the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector spoke to children and the childminder at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector gathered and took into consideration the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of how children learn and develop. She evaluates and reviews her practice well, making positive and effective changes. For example, she maintains good links with other early years professionals to share ideas. The childminder includes parents and children in helping to identify ways she can improve. This has helped to improve her partnership working. For example, she encourages parents to add to their children's progress reports, offer suggestions and complete feedback questionnaires. She supports parents well to understand their children's learning and progress. The childminder supports children's good progress through consistency in their care and learning. She maintains close links with schools and visits them with the children to help them settle when they move on in their learning. The childminder has a good knowledge of the safeguarding procedures to follow. She is clear about who to contact if she has

concerns about children's welfare. Children participate in regular emergency evacuations, helping them to understand what to do in the event of a fire. Safeguarding is effective.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder extends children's learning well. For example, during an animal song, she actively involves children by using puppets and visual aids to bring the song to life. She links this well to a recent trip to the pet shop, where they collected leaflets and items. This helps children to make clear links between their learning and the world around them. The childminder provides children with good opportunities to develop their imaginative ideas through role play and painting activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder builds secure and trusting relationships with children. This supports them well to have good emotional well-being and self-esteem. Children are happy, settled and confident. The childminder promotes children's physical well-being effectively. For example, they follow good health and hygiene routines and exercise daily. Children are familiar with the routines and their own needs well, and know when they need to rest. Children develop good physical skills. For example, they explore different ways of moving and negotiating space as they participate in action songs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in relation to their starting points, including those who are learning English as an additional language. Children develop good early reading and writing skills. This helps them to prepare well for school. For example, they write their own names and recognise written words. Children develop good social skills and engage well with others.
