This provision is good
The childminder has effective systems in place to observe and assess children. She knows the children well and monitors their progress effectively. The childminder shares her findings with parents to keep them up to date with their children's progress. The childminder provides a well-balanced range of activities and opportunities that captures children's interest well. Children make good progress in their learning. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, they eat healthy snacks and home- cooked meals daily, and they are encouraged to adopt good hygiene practices. The childminder uses self-evaluation effectively to improve the quality of her setting. She ensures that the views of her co-childminder and parents are considered in full. Children form positive relationships with the childminder and her co-childminder, which promotes their emotional well-being effectively.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not have regular opportunities to learn about and use technology. The childminder does not always gather robust information from parents about their children's abilities when they first start, or through ongoing assessments, to provide as much consistency in their learning as possible between the setting and home.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

strengthen opportunities for children to learn about and to use technology strengthen the good partnerships with parents even further by encouraging them to provide more information about children's skills and abilities when they first start and in ongoing assessments.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures and children's records. The inspector conducted a tour of the premises that the childminder uses for childminding purposes. The inspector viewed and took into account written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of her safeguarding procedures and implements them effectively. She knows what to do to protect children from risk of harm. The childminder has a positive attitude towards her continual professional development. Since her last inspection, she has attended a number of training courses to keep up to date and to continue to extend her knowledge. For example, she has completed child development training to enhance her understanding of children's different learning styles. The childminder works closely with her co-childminder and they share information regarding children's individual needs so they are well met. Partnerships with other providers are strong. They regularly share information between settings to encourage continuity in children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of children's progress and their abilities. She supports all children effectively in their individual play and extends their thinking and learning. She is particularly proactive in promoting children's communication and language skills. For example, she questions children skilfully, listens to them as they play, and gives them clear explanations to improve their learning. The childminder promotes children's mathematical development well. They become familiar with numbers and counting. For example, she encourages children to count for a purpose during play. Children learn about shape, measure and space, such as when they solve puzzles.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have regular opportunities to visit a number of playgroups on a weekly basis and they learn to mix with others. Children learn about differences in society. For example, the childminder teaches children about different celebrations and festivals, and they have meaningful discussions, when using dressing-up clothes, about the different roles that people play in the community. Children learn to respect one another and behaviour is good. They learn about keeping themselves safe. For instance, children take part in regular evacuation drills and learn about road safety when on outings with the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their development. For example, babies demonstrate their developing physical skills as they access toys while having tummy time. Older children learn about the importance of physical activity. For example, they make highly effective use of the well-resourced garden and use the slide, balls and the trampoline. They also learn about how things grow as, for example, they play in the playhouse, which is set up as a garden centre.
