This provision is outstanding

 Exceptionally skilled staff promote children's communication and language development exceedingly well. Children are extremely confident to talk in a group, for example, when discussing how each of them look different.  Staff are very caring and build extremely strong relationships with all children. Children settle in quickly and develop strong friendships with staff and their peers over time. They are very happy and thoroughly enjoy their time in the pre-school.  Partnerships with parents and other professionals are excellent. The manager and staff work tirelessly to keep parents informed of children's progress and find innovative ways to enthuse them to support their children's learning at home. This has an excellent impact on children's progress.  Staff use their excellent knowledge of each child's achievements to provide rich, varied and imaginative experiences that inspire and motivate children to learn. Children truly

relish the variety of experiences offered to them.  The manager uses her extensive experience and knowledge to thoroughly evaluate the quality of care and teaching in the pre-school. There is a strong commitment and relentless drive to build on the already outstanding practice.

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed children and staff inside and outside.  The inspector spoke with the manager and staff at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector sampled documentation including risk assessments, accident forms, qualification certificates, and children's records.  The inspector spoke to some parents to gain their views on the day of the inspection.  The inspector carried out a joint observation with the manager.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Staff are highly qualified and expertly promote children's development. Tracking of children's progress is exceptionally precise, clearly showing the superb progress children make. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. All staff have a comprehensive understanding of their role and responsibilities in keeping children safe from harm. Evaluation is robust and precise, setting clear plans for continuous improvement. Staff work extremely closely with other agencies and professionals. They value the specialised input and share relevant information to support children with special educational needs or disability, and their families. Inspirational leadership ensures that professional development enables staff to challenge and improve their knowledge and understanding, leading to the best outcomes for children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff use highly effective strategies to help children learn. They make excellent use of questioning to extend children's thinking. Children excitedly enjoy filling and pouring, and staff expertly help them to understand the concept of full and empty. Staff support children exceptionally well with their language and communication. For example, all two- year-old children get focused one-to-one sessions at least weekly. As a result, children are animated and enthusiastic learners. Children love reading stories and drawing pictures. However, at times staff miss the opportunity to extend children's interest in how letters and words are formed. Staff invite parents to contribute to their children's assessments, and learning is shared regularly so that it can continue at home.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children confidently take turns, develop collaborative ideas and build very strong friendships with each other. They demonstrate kindness and a sensitive awareness of each other's differences and needs. Staff promote children's emotional well-being exceptionally well through the highly effective and respectful key-person system. Children develop physical skills and enjoy excellent opportunities to solve problems, for example, as they move large tyres around the playground. Children's behaviour is superb. Children demonstrate excellent knowledge of how to keep themselves safe and healthy.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make exceptional progress in readiness for school. They have many opportunities to count and use mathematical language during their play. Older children already understand addition and subtraction and are interested to see how to make different numbers. Children enthusiastically join in with familiar actions and phrases to songs. They show excellent communication skills as they excitedly talk about stories they have read at home.
