This provision is good
The childminder monitors children's learning effectively. She makes regular observations and accurate assessments, and shares children's progress with parents. Children make good progress from their starting points. Children develop very good independence skills. The childminder encourages children to do things for themselves at every opportunity. For instance, children help to clean the table before mealtimes and tidy away toys they have been playing with. The childminder supports children's emotional development well. For example, she offers effective settling-in procedures and holds discussions with parents before children start, to plan for their individual needs from the outset. Partnerships with parents and carers are strong. The regular sharing of information provides continuity for children and helps to involve parents in their children's learning. The provider regularly reflects on her teaching practice. She considers her strengths

and areas to improve. She gains the views of parents and children to help make changes and maintain good outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children have fewer opportunities to write for different purposes, to develop their early writing skills. At times, the childminder does not fully challenge children to share their thoughts and ideas to extend their problem-solving skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at the areas used for childminding. The inspector examined a sample of policies, documents and children's records. The inspector read feedback from parents to gain their views. The inspector observed children and the childminder during play. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder confidently understands her responsibility to protect children and follows appropriate procedures to promote their welfare. She carries out effective risk assessments of all areas to promote children's welfare. The childminder attends training and meets with other childminders to share regular information and update her skills and knowledge. She works well in partnership with parents, for example, sensitively providing them with reassurance if they having any worries about their children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and provides a wealth of exciting experiences for them. She ensures that activities are enjoyable and planned around children's individual needs and interests. Children enjoy a range of creative activities. For example, they explore shaving foam with their hands and feet. The childminder includes mathematical concepts at every opportunity. For instance, she encourages counting as children line-up cars, discusses shapes and uses language of size to describe certain items. Children enjoy looking at books independently and with the childminder, discussing what they see. The childminder helps children develop their vocabulary; for example, she repeats words and encourages them to talk as they play and investigate.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form positive relationships with the childminder which promotes their emotional well-being effectively. They have regular opportunities to develop their social skills; for instance, when they go on outings with the childminder to groups and meet with other children. Children learn about differences between themselves and others in society. For example, the childminder provides a good range of resources that reflect diversity and teaches children about different festivals. Children have good opportunities to develop physically and learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, they eat healthy food and enjoy balancing and climbing on the equipment in the park. They learn about keeping themselves safe. For instance, they take part in regular evacuation drills and learn about road safety when on outings with the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They are confident, independent learners who explore and try things for themselves. They display good behaviour while in the childminder's care. They learn to respect the environment and each other as they play cooperatively. Children display good levels of self-esteem and work within, or beyond, the range of development typical for their age. The childminder effectively supports children to develop many of the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and school.
