p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder has made many improvements since her last inspection. She frequently accesses training and network events to develop her knowledge in supporting children's learning and development. Children's progress is carefully monitored over time and this is regularly shared with parents. The childminder is knowledgeable about other professionals to contact if she has any concerns about children's progress. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder follows her policies and procedures to ensure children are kept safe and well. She is confident about the signs that may cause her concern about a child's welfare and her responsibilities to ensure children's well-being.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder has improved her teaching skills since her last inspection. She supports children's learning and development very well. There are good opportunities for children to follow their interests and they access a broad range of planned activities over the week. The childminder interacts with children during their play to provide fun challenges to extend their knowledge and skills. She asks questions that encourage children to think about what they might need to complete an activity. For example, as children were constructing a harbour for a boat they had made, she asked about the size and shape of the materials they might need. Children have many opportunities to learn about the natural world. They have their own space in the garden, where they plant and tend flowers and herbs.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are very happy in the childminder's setting. When they arrive they quickly engage in the planned activities. The childminder ensures that available resources reflect children's current interests, which helps them to be well motivated in their learning. They behave very well and enjoy the close bonds they have with each other and the childminder. The childminder is a very good role model. She is consistently calm and caring in her approach. This supports children's well-being very effectively. Children enjoy a range of healthy snacks and drinks to support their learning about healthy lifestyles.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children demonstrate high levels of well-being, which helps them to be confident and competent as they play and learn. All children make good and better progress from their starting points. They acquire the key skills and attitudes that ensure their readiness for school. They listen attentively and learn how to share resources. Children are very motivated about their learning and do not give up when things become more challenging. They enjoy the satisfaction of completing an activity by themselves and know when to ask for help to achieve a desired goal.
