This monitoring visit
This home was judged as having declined in effectiveness at the interim inspection on 9 March 2016 and a compliance notice was issued.
p.2
This monitoring visit
An inspector visited the home on 13 April 2016 to determine whether the compliance notice had been met, and whether sufficient steps had been taken by the manager and responsible individual to ensure that young people living in the home are safeguarded and protected.
p.2
This monitoring visit
It was found that the manager and staff at the home have worked hard to meet the compliance notice in full. One young person’s bedroom has been fully refurbished. There is new flooring in place, curtains are hung at the windows and clothes are tidily arranged in the wardrobe. The bedroom has been deep cleaned and redecorated and now provides a pleasant and hygienic environment for the young person. New bedding, including a waterproof mattress, has been purchased.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff now conduct twice-daily checks of all areas of the home, so they are able to address any shortfalls in a timely manner. In particular, these checks include close scrutiny of bedrooms, to ensure that bedding is clean and dry. The manager now oversees all of these checks to ensure that staff are undertaking this twice-daily routine task.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Young people are being helped to manage any continence issues, and the manager has made contact with healthcare professionals who are offering guidance to staff and young people on managing continence issues. Staff have also recently attended attachment training so that they are now fully aware of the impact of a young person’s environment upon them and their feelings of self-esteem and being cared for. Staff are trained in infection control procedures and new procedures are now in operation in the home to ensure cleanliness and hygiene throughout the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
It is judged that the compliance notice has been fully met and is now lifted.
