p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder engages children well in learning but does not always effectively adapt activities and support, so that challenges more accurately and consistently meet their individual learning needs and build on what they already know. There are fewer opportunities for children to use technology.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed several different activities and the interactions between children and the childminder to see the impact these have on children's learning. The inspector sampled documents that the childminder uses for childminding. The inspector sampled records of children's achievements and looked at information about their progress. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector spoke to parents and checked some written testimonials from others to obtain their views about the service.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good awareness of safeguarding procedures and knows how to keep children safe. She has attended safeguarding training to update her knowledge and ensure she knows what to do if she is concerned about a child in her care. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder reviews her practices well to identify steps to improve her service further. She works closely with the local authority and with other providers to help sharpen her practice and develop new ideas. She attends regular training, which has increased her knowledge of supporting children with special educational needs. Improved partnerships with other settings that children attend have resulted in them working together more closely to provide children with continuity in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and provides activities that they enjoy. She promotes children's communication and language well through discussions, stories and singing. For example, children regularly discuss stories and provide opinions about the different characters. The childminder effectively encourages children's good physical skills so they improve their coordination, for example through daily music and dancing. The childminder records and assesses children's progress well and uses her observations to plan and provide activities that, overall, help children to develop new skills. The childminder supports children well to learn about where they live through regular trips into the local community.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder ensures children's well-being and supports them effectively to keep safe. For example, she shows them how to use cutting tools safely as they play with dough. The childminder uses a quiet, calm approach to encourage children's good behaviour. She effectively promotes children's good social skills. For example, they attend a local play group regularly, which helps them to make wider friendships and enjoy greater play opportunities. The childminder supports children to learn about diversity through celebrating a wide range of festivals to broaden their experiences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn the skills required for the next stage of learning and the move to school. They develop good independence and understanding of expectations and routines, such as tidying up their toys and helping to prepare the table for lunchtime. Children gain good mathematical skills. For example, they learn to recognise shapes and colours as they enjoy a play-dough activity. Children successfully develop their early reading skills and use pictures to help them make choices of activities and play opportunities. They are emotionally secure, and socialise and communicate well with others.
