p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder is effective in her teaching. She spends time gently interacting with the children as they play, which encourages them to explore and try new experiences. The children enjoy building towers out of multilink cubes; they discuss size and colour, counting and comparing how high their tower is. Children solve problems as they discuss how they could prevent the tower bending and breaking. The childminder works well with other settings that children attend. For example, when playing with a farm set, they happily take turns with the tractor and share out the animals. Children learn to respect and understand similarities and differences between themselves and others. The childminder provides daily opportunities for children to have fresh air and exercise. She makes good use of her garden and the local community to promote all aspects of children's learning. The childminder provide nutritious, balanced meals and snacks. She talks to children about healthy eating. Children follow good hygiene practices and they wash their hands at appropriate times.

p.3

Children's early literacy skills are promoted well as they explore books and mark make. They develop their early mathematical skills as they count and explore shape and size. Children are learning to control their bodies and move in a variety of ways and they understand the importance of keeping themselves healthy. All children are making good progress in their learning.
