This provision is outstanding

 The quality of teaching is inspirational. The childminder and her assistant work in excellent partnership to provide happy and valuable learning experiences for the children in their care. Children are confident, curious to explore and display a deep involvement in their learning.  Excellent arrangements for supervision and training help to ensure a highly consistent approach to children's care and learning. For example, the childminder and her assistant have used their knowledge and skills remarkably well to improve arrangements for observing, assessing and planning for children's progress.  Children settle extremely well at the childminder's welcoming setting. The childminder and her assistant are very caring and sensitive to their emotional needs and the children bond very well with them.  Children develop an excellent understanding of daily routines. They learn to take age- appropriate responsibilities and steadily develop independence. For example, young

children tidy up their toys, without prompting, before going outside to play.  The childminder assesses and monitors children's development exceptionally well and has high aims for all children. She establishes extremely effective partnerships with professional agencies to help reduce gaps in children's learning. Children make excellent progress from their starting points.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 strengthen opportunities for children to build on their thinking skills even further.

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed children and their interactions with the childminder and her assistant.  The inspector viewed a sample of documents including children's learning records.  The inspector held discussions with the childminder and her assistant.  The inspector took account of the views of parents and the children.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. Arrangements for risk assessment are very thorough and children develop an excellent understanding of how to keep themselves safe from harm. For example, they learn about road safety through role play. The childminder and her assistant have an excellent knowledge of child protection procedures. Partnerships with parents are exemplary and excellent sharing of information helps them to continue children's care and learning extremely well at home. Excellent relationships with other settings that children attend contribute further to an extremely smooth transfer for children as they move between settings. Self-evaluation is rigorous and the childminder and her assistant work extremely well as a team to continually drive improvement and achieve exceptionally high standards in children's care and learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Planning is highly focused on children's individual needs and the childminder continually promotes opportunities for children to develop as independent learners. She stimulates children's curiosity to explore, extremely well, and plans an interesting range of activities, opportunities and resources. For example, children squealed with excitement as they found toy dinosaurs hidden in shredded paper. The childminder skilfully captures children's interest in stories; for example, she modulates her voice as she reads to them and they listen intently. However, on some occasions, she moves on too quickly and children do not always have sufficient time to think and answer questions.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Young children demonstrate high levels of curiosity and independence. For example, they eagerly explore an excellent range of resources outside that help to promote their physical skills. They learn to climb, jump and move their bodies in different ways. Children flourish in the childminder's inclusive setting. For example, children who speak English as an additional language and those with additional needs benefit from close partnership work between the childminder and the parents. All children and their families feel fully valued and children learn to respect each other extremely well.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children demonstrate very high levels of confidence in what they can do. For example, they presented a puppet show and they greeted the audience and mimicked conversation as they used their imagination to move the puppets about. They behave extremely well and are kind in their interactions with each other; for example, older children make room for younger children to join them in the puppet theatre. Children make excellent progress towards the next stages in their learning. They develop strong foundations for future learning and are prepared extremely well for their move to school.
