This provision is good
The childminder provides children with interesting activities that motivate them to learn. Children make good progress from their starting points. Children form positive relationships with the childminder. The childminder gives them lots of praise and encouragement at appropriate times and raises children's levels of self-esteem. Partnerships with parents and other providers are good. The regular exchange of information provides continuity for children's learning. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles well. For example, children enjoy healthy snacks and meals and develop good hygiene practices. The childminder regularly reflects on her teaching practice. She has completed a childcare qualification since her last inspection and uses her good knowledge of how children learn to improve her teaching. She gains the views of parents and children to help make changes and maintain good outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not encourage children to use their thinking skills to solve problems for themselves. Although children have access to a wide range of resources, the childminder does not provide such a broad range of activities for children who prefer to learn outside.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector checked the areas used for childminding. The inspector read feedback from parents to gain their views. The inspector observed the childminder and children during play. The inspector examined a sample of policies, documents and children's records. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of safeguarding procedures to follow if she has concerns for a child's welfare. Policies and procedures underpin the childminder's good practice to promote children's well-being and safety, both in the home and when on outings. The childminder has addressed previous recommendations made. For instance, assessment processes are now effective. The childminder keeps her skills and knowledge up to date. For example, she completes training and shares ideas for good practice with other childminders and professionals to help maintain good standards.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder completes meaningful observations and uses the information that she finds to plan for the next steps in children's learning. She accurately assesses and monitors children's progress and shares her findings with parents to help involve them in their children's learning. Children enjoy activities that the childminder plans. For instance, children engage well in craft activities and enjoy discussing the flowers they choose to create collages. Children develop a good awareness of mathematics. For example, they join in counting with the childminder as she counts the figures they are playing with during water play. Children learn to be creative, for example, they enjoy singing and using puppets to express themselves. The childminder teaches children to value differences in society, for example, when they learn about different festivals. Children confidently explore technological resources and develop good early technology skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settle quickly into the childminder's care. The childminder supports children's personal development well. For example, she reads children stories about toilet training to support their awareness of this. She helps children to gain an awareness of keeping themselves safe through a variety of activities. Children have daily opportunities for fresh air and exercise, which supports their physical well-being effectively. They have good opportunities to develop their social skills, for example, during outings and group times that the childminder takes them to. Children learn to respect the environment and behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They gain independence and confidence in their abilities and are ready to learn. Children actively explore the environment and make independent choices in their play. They develop an interest in literacy. For example, they enjoy looking at books with the childminder and develop their early writing skills well. Children gain the key skills they need for their eventual move to school.
