p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The management team monitors the progress that children make, so that any gaps in learning are swiftly identified and additional support is provided. Key staff have a sound knowledge of each child's stage of development and learning priorities. They use this information to plan activities and experiences that are well matched to children's individual interests and abilities. Children enjoy songs, rhymes and interesting books and stories. Pre-school children recognise the sounds that letters make and simple written words, such as their names. Teaching is good. Well-qualified staff foster children's skills in early mathematics. Children enjoy identifying and measuring ingredients when they make play dough. Children readily help themselves from a great selection of toys, books and resources that stimulates their purposeful play.

They provide children with the necessary support and guidance they need to extend their knowledge and skills. Children are well behaved and staff manage behaviour consistently. Children have daily access to the outdoor area and take part in a good variety of physical activities. They happily make their way across the numbered stepping stones in the garden. This helps to develop their balance and counting skills. Children are provided with healthy snacks and meals. Mealtimes are a social, learning experience. Babies and toddlers are helped to gain an understanding of their own care needs as they feed themselves. Older children are encouraged to become more independent as they peel and divide fruit to share.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children, including those who receive early education funding and those who speak English as an additional language, make good progress. There is an excellent range of learning opportunities and children actively explore their environment. They are keen and confident learners who are eager to participate in activities. Staff ensure that children are well prepared for the next stage of their learning, including school.
