This provision is good
Teaching is strong. The childminder knows children's individual interests and reflects them in the resources and activities she plans. Children are curious, self-motivated and make at least good progress in their learning. The childminder is particularly focused on helping children learn about the world in which they live and to have a positive sense of themselves. Children respond well to the childminder's routines and clear boundaries for good behaviour. They cooperate well and show respect towards others. The childminder works closely with parents and other professionals to observe children's learning. She uses the information gained to assess the progress children make and to plan suitably challenging activities. Older children comment on the caring nature of the childminder. She promotes children's emotional well-being, safety and good health very well. The qualified childminder has high expectations of children's learning and her own

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's attendance records, policies and procedures. She also checked evidence of the suitability of all adults living and working on the premises. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection and took account of the views of parents provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder takes all necessary steps to ensure children are kept safe at all times. She has a clear understanding of her role and responsibilities with regard to child protection issues. She identifies and minimises all risks to children and knows what to do to protect them from harm. The childminder receives positive feedback from children and parents. Older children comment on how the childminder is always playing with them and helps them to achieve success in their learning. They state that they like the food she provides and activities, such as going to the park. The childminder has plans to continue improving her knowledge and skills through further training.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder recognises where children are progressing particularly well and plans fun experiences to extend their learning. She exchanges information with parents and provides them with resources to take home each week. Children are well prepared for school when the time comes. They are inquisitive and use language to ask questions. The childminder responds well. She develops children's language further by encouraging them to share what they are seeing and doing. Children enjoy being creative. They make their own pizzas for tea and explore sand, water and paint. They use their imaginations as they create elephants out of boxes and put on a show using puppets.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children thoroughly enjoy exploring different countries and how people live. They learn about foods and flags from around the world. The childminder is a positive role model and helps children manage their own feelings effectively. Children show they feel safe and comfortable in her care. They enjoy healthy meals and choose when to play outdoors throughout the day. Children interact well with others of different ages. They enjoy interactive games, such as hide and seek. Children develop their physical skills while learning to keep themselves safe. They enjoy climbing, swinging and bouncing on large equipment at the park.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are keen to learn and progress very well in all areas of learning. Their early literacy skills are promoted well. They explore books and sound out letters in their name. Children concentrate well and are encouraged to be proud of their achievements. They are fascinated by numbers and confidently name different shapes, such as a hexagon. Children listen well to others and confidently follow instructions. They are becoming independent and confident to manage their own personal care. Children indicate their need to use the potty or toilet and follow good hygiene routines.
