children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The home has been closed since January 2015. The registered provider has indicated that the home will not be operational until March 2016. Should the home decide to accept any placements, they are required to inform Ofsted of their intention before they do so.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The provider has a comprehensive programme of refurbishment of the local authority's children's homes, which is being implemented on a staged basis. This home forms part of that programme. It is being completely rebuilt on the same site to provide more appropriate accommodation for children and young people. The manager, staff team, children and young people moved to another children's home, operated by the same provider, on 16 January 2015. They will remain at the other home until this home is rebuilt. All the relevant records have transferred with them to ensure continuity of care and support, with historical records being appropriately archived. Prior to the home becoming operational again, Ofsted will undertake a visit to the premises to ensure it is suitable. The responsible individual has informed Ofsted of his intention to commence operation of the home in late March or early April, and a preliminary visit date has been agreed.

Information about this inspection

Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
