p.1
This provision is inadequate
The childminder does not have a suitable understanding of many of the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She is unsure of the expectations for several aspects of practice. The childminder has failed to notify Ofsted of a number of significant events that have occurred since the last inspection. She does not demonstrate a suitable understanding of what information needs to be notified to Ofsted. The childminder has not established appropriate risk assessments. She has not given suitable consideration to ensuring that children are safe and secure at all times. The childminder does not effectively organise her records to ensure that they are always available for inspection. The childminder has not established how she will complement the support children receive at other settings.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children play well together and have good friendships. Children show kindness as they take care to include other children in their games. The childminder has a suitable understanding of child protection issues. She is able to demonstrate that she knows how to deal with any concerns. The childminder organises the space and resources to promote children's enjoyment and interests.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector discussed the planning of activities with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as evidence of training. The inspector spoke to a selection of parents and carers during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are ineffective. The childminder has not notified Ofsted of a number of significant events that have taken place since her last inspection. She does not have sufficient knowledge about what information is required to be notified or many other requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The childminder relies on other providers telling her what is expected, rather than checking the information herself. Therefore, she is spending time on things that are not required, while failing to meet some of the requirements. The childminder has not carried out appropriate risk assessments to ensure that children are always safe and secure. She maintains the required records but does not always ensure that these are available for inspection. The childminder does provide appropriate supervision for children. She assesses the risks related to the safety of the equipment that children use. She maintains her first-aid

training so that she can provide appropriate treatment in the event of an accident.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
The childminder gives children the choice to decide what activities they want to do before and after school. She provides a suitable range of toys, equipment and activities to promote children's enjoyment. She encourages children to play together and make up their own games. Children have fun during their play. For example, they set up a pretend post office and take on different roles, using their imagination to keep the play going. Parents and carers comment that their children enjoy their time with the childminder. However, the childminder has not established the support that children need, or that she can offer, with parents, carers and other settings. This means, that if children do require any support to complement the learning and development they receive elsewhere, the childminder is unaware of what this is. On occasion, she recognises that children are learning a new skill and supports them with this, through their play. The childminder

encourages children to discuss what they have been doing at school or at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children's welfare is compromised because the childminder is not meeting all of the safeguarding and welfare requirements. She does not always ensure that her practice ensures children's safety. Nevertheless, all children are welcomed and included. The childminder effectively manages children's behaviour. Children of all ages play well together and rarely have disagreements. Children demonstrate that they understand the expectations, for example, when they arrive home from school. They independently put away their belongings and decide what they want to do. Children learn about a healthy lifestyle through activities, such as growing their own fruit and vegetables and talking about healthy options. The childminder has clear rules for walking to and from school so that children know how to keep themselves safe. She also talks to them about things, such as road safety. Children also regularly practise the evacuation procedure so that they

know what to do in the event of an emergency. The childminder has a suitable understanding of how to support children's transitions as they move on to other settings.
