Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the nursery manager. The inspector held a meeting with the nursery manager, deputy and local authority representative. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the nursery's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of staff.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The managers meticulously monitor the accuracy of children's assessments, the progress made by each child and different groups. This helps them to offer support to staff to set high expectations for each child. Any gaps in children's learning or the provision are swiftly identified and targeted plans are put in place to address them. For example, managers identified gaps in children's mathematical learning and this became an area of focus and greatly improved. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff display an excellent understanding of their responsibility to protect children from harm. The managers implement a number of monitoring procedures to ensure that children are kept safe. For example, children's attendance is closely monitored and security is robust. The management team is currently developing a revised system of planning for children's next steps. They envisage this will drive children's progress even further.
