This provision is good
Accurate assessments are completed regularly and staff have a clear understanding of children's next steps for future learning. Planning ensures that children are provided with opportunities to build on what they already know and can do. As a result, children are highly motivated, eager learners who make good progress in their learning and development. Staff place a strong focus on activities to encourage children's communication and speaking and listening, which significantly helps those who are learning English as an additional language achieve as well as other children. Partnerships with parents are successful. Parents speak highly about the nursery and the learning opportunities provided for children. They feel well informed and fully involved in their children's learning. The provider and manager show a secure understanding of the nursery's strengths and areas for development. Reflective practice is ongoing at all levels. Staff, children and

parents are all actively involved in the process. Effective settling-in procedures and transition between rooms help children to form secure emotional attachments and promote their sense of security and belonging. Children behave well because adults are good role models, demonstrating kind and respectful attitudes towards others.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Partnerships with some other early years settings that children attend and move on to are not yet fully effective. Older children do not always have opportunities to use technology purposefully to help them extend their knowledge about how it works and its uses.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance partnership working with other settings children attend and move on to, to ensure a common understanding of children's skills and abilities strengthen opportunities for older children to use technology, in particular to help them learn about the different purposes of it.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the nursery manager. The inspector held a meeting with the nursery manager and provider. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the nursery's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector spoke to staff and children throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The manager and staff have a clear understanding of the procedures to follow should they have concerns about a child's welfare. Recruitment procedures are robust. Children are supervised well and staff ensure that children have a safe environment in which to play and explore. Thorough staff performance and development procedures help ensure staff continue to develop their knowledge and skills. Staff are well qualified and use their knowledge of the different ways that children learn, to successfully engage them in learning experiences. Detailed analysis of children's progress and the levels at which they work in each area means that any gaps in learning for individuals or groups of children are identified and addressed quickly.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff plan a variety of activities to provide experiences across all areas of learning. Children thrive on these opportunities and show good levels of motivation and concentration which lead to good learning. Staff who work with babies and toddlers spend quality time with them. They sit alongside them and provide positive interaction to support their early development. Babies delight in exploring the many interesting toys, such as foam and convex mirrors. Toddlers become engrossed in books and enjoy stories being read to them. Staff work alongside older children to give them additional challenges in their learning. They help them with early literacy and numeracy skills, such as writing their own names and counting beyond 10. The children listen well to familiar stories, and begin to recall what happened next and re-enact a fairy tale. Staff are skilled at adapting the activities to children's needs by varying the difficulty of the questions they ask. This

challenges more-able children and gives a good level of support for those who need it.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children and families feel extremely welcomed, settled and happy because of the high emphasis to promote their well-being. Babies' and young children's care needs are met well. They thrive in the happy, relaxed atmosphere. Kind, attentive staff settle children and calmly manage their care, hygiene and sleep routines. Children are provided with healthy, nutritious and balanced meals and snacks, prepared freshly on site. Staff provide good opportunities for all children to experience fresh air and physical exercise. Children listen to what staff say and safe practices are evident in their everyday play and routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn a range of skills that prepare them well for their future learning, including starting school. Younger children are using all of their senses to explore and experiment. Older children show confidence and skill in handling small equipment, such as writing tools and scissors. They recognise their own names and know the initial letter and its sound. Many write their name on their work without being prompted. Children have a good level of respect for their environment and their behaviour is good, which is to be seen in their sensible approach to tidying up, replacing resources and their concern to others.
