This provision is good
The childminder provides a safe and welcoming environment. Children build good relationships with the childminder and one another. They learn to respect the views and feelings of others. The childminder is experienced in childcare and uses her good knowledge of how children learn to help her provide a broad range of activities. Children make good progress. The childminder monitors children's development effectively, which enables her to identify and address gaps in their learning quickly. The childminder promotes effective partnerships with parents and outside agencies, which helps her to meet individual needs well. Parents report positively on the good progress their children have made since attending. The childminder, together with her co-childminder, regularly evaluates her provision in order to make improvements to benefit the children. For example, she plans to develop the garden to offer more opportunities for children to experiment.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes suggests answers to questions, rather than enabling children to think of the solution themselves. The childminder does not always make the most of children's play and everyday opportunities to promote mathematics. She sometimes overlooks the chance to refer to numbers, shapes and numerals to extend children's understanding.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's activities, inside and outside. The inspector talked to the childminder about children's activities and progress. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, which included policies and procedures, and children's progress records. The inspector took account of parents' views obtained from the childminder's questionnaires.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to help protect children from harm and the procedures to follow if she has concerns. She teaches children about staying safe, which includes road safety and being aware of how to behave in emergency situations. The childminder and her co-childminder work well as a team. They communicate effectively and meet children's individual needs well. The childminder is proactive in developing her knowledge. For example, she researches good practice ideas and how to support children with specific needs effectively.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a stimulating environment with a wide range of play equipment and resources. Children select independently and extend their play and learning. The childminder plans activities according to children's interests and learning priorities. She regularly takes children on outings in the community. These involve activities such as meeting other people, using different play equipment and learning about the world around them. For example, visiting a caf enables children to learn social skills, understand that print has meaning, and develop an awareness of using money. The childminder promotes children's language skills well. For example, she talks with children as she joins in their activities, naming objects, people and actions. She knows the children and families well and instigates conversations about events in their lives.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder requests detailed information from parents about children's individual needs and helps them to settle and feel secure. Children behave well. They learn to take turns, listen to instructions and be aware of others. The childminder regularly praises children, which helps to boost their self-esteem and confidence. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles well. For example, she is vigilant about providing food options that meet children's dietary requirements and promote their good health. Children enjoy fresh air and exercise every day and learn to take calculated risks. For example, they use challenging apparatus in play parks and negotiate large rocks as they explore their locality. Children learn how to stay safe in everyday situations, such as crossing roads.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They develop confidence in relating to other children and adults. Children make choices and feel secure to make their needs known. They focus well on activities and join in with enthusiasm. Children develop good independence, such as managing their clothes and preparing food. Skills such as these help all children to prepare well for the next stage of learning and starting school.
