This provision is good
Children are extremely confident and settle well with the childminder. She is very attentive to children's needs and provides them with caring support and positive encouragement in all that they do. Children highly value and respect each other and have a strong sense of identity and pride in their achievements. The childminder attends training to help her improve her teaching skills. She makes good use of what she learns as she interacts with children, to provide them with appropriate challenge and support. All children make good progress based on their starting points. The childminder provides a stimulating play environment. She organises the wide range of resources well to enable children to make many choices in their play. The childminder promotes children's behaviour and independence exceptionally well. Children are extremely polite and well behaved. The childminder communicates very well with parents, to keep them fully involved in

children's learning and to help provide continuity for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not use all opportunities to promote children's home languages in their play, to further extend all children's communication skills. The childminder does not consistently teach children about how things grow and change over time, to fully promote their awareness of the natural world.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

increase opportunities for children to hear and use languages spoken at home, to further promote their communication skills provide more opportunities for children to learn about growth and how things change over time, as part of strengthening their understanding of the world.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation and written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder monitors children's progress well to help identify any gaps in their learning and to assess their development. She gains feedback from parents and reflects well on her practice, to make effective improvements to benefit the children. For example, after attending training on how individual children learn, she followed children's interest in dens and cosy spaces to further promote children's learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She recognises behaviours that may give cause for concern and knows the procedures she must follow to help keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are keen to learn and thoroughly enjoy their experiences. The childminder is enthusiastic and flexible, and quickly makes changes to reflect children's interests and preferences. For example, when children demonstrate that they wish to do some singing, she changes the planned activity to accommodate their ideas. Children join in with the words and actions of the songs, demonstrating the fun they are having and skills they are learning. The childminder introduces new words and teaches children about letter shapes and sounds, to help extend their early reading skills. Children listen carefully to the names of the baby animals and copy the sounds the animals make.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder provides highly consistent boundaries and expectations. Children are extremely thoughtful, caring and considerate for their ages and develop strong relationships with their friends. For example, as they play, they call out to their friends to join them and happily sing as they work together to help tidy up the playroom. They wait patiently for their turn during games and gain a highly secure understanding of fairness. The childminder promotes children's self-esteem exceptionally well. The skilful engagement of the childminder helps children to feel secure and learn how to keep themselves healthy. Even the youngest children show high levels of independence as they manage their personal care needs with confidence. They automatically go to the bathroom to wash their hands without any prompting and they clearly understand how good hygiene routines help them to stay healthy.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are very well prepared for the next stages in their learning. They enjoy a very good range of activities that encourage them to explore. They engage in discussion, for example, as they explore items in a basket. They talk about what the items are made of, their size and shape, and how they are used. Children develop highly respectful attitudes towards others and enjoy sharing photos of themselves, their families and their friends.
