This provision is outstanding

 The childminder develops exceptional partnerships with all parents and carers. She significantly enhances their understanding about how their child's learning can be supported at home. This, and the regular exchange of information about their child's development, makes sure all parties are fully included in children's progress over time.  The childminder develops excellent partnerships with other early years providers and professionals. She makes sure that the sharing of information regarding children's care and learning is fostered at the highest level. Consequently, children's progress across all areas of their development is exceptional.  The childminder and her assistants work in partnership to robustly monitor the educational programme. The childminder makes sure that planning is tailored to each child's interests, by identifying children's previous learning and their current starting points. As a result, outcomes for children are excellent.

p.1

This provision is outstanding

 The childminder evaluates her provision with rigour. She robustly includes the views of parents, children, and her assistants. The childminder works closely with her assistants. She makes sure they regularly reflect on their excellent practice so that all children benefit from a strong drive for improvement.  The childminder and her assistants are warm and caring with the children. Consequently, children develop high levels of self-confidence and emotional attachments with all adults. All adults interact positively with the children throughout the day. Children are, therefore, growing in independence and settling quickly on arrival.  The childminder and her assistants focus on providing children with a consistently challenging environment. They encourage children to have a go, to keep trying and to have pride in their own achievements. Children are creative, and they try new activities and develop a superior 'can do' attitude to learning.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 monitor and assess the impact that a highly focussed programme of professional development for the assistants has on maintaining the excellent standards of care and teaching already achieved.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder.  The inspector held a meeting with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of all persons living or working at the setting.  The inspector took account of parents' written views of the service provided.  The inspector spoke to children and an assistant during the inspection and took account of her views.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistants check all indoor and outdoor areas each morning to make sure that children are kept safe and well throughout the day. The childminder shares her inspiration and vision with her assistants. She supervises their practice, providing excellent coaching and support for them so they are able to discuss any issues about their roles and responsibilities with confidence. The childminder's training and qualifications, gained since the last inspection, have raised her confidence and enhanced her already excellent understanding about how children learn and develop. She has identified the potential to further extend the programme of professional development for her assistants, in order to maintain the excellent standards already achieved.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder identifies clear next steps in children's learning and development through observing practice and holding discussions with her assistants. The childminder and her assistants foster children's keen interests in animals. They take the children on lots of visits to see wild animals at the zoo and domestic animals at the local farm. During these visits, the adults support children's excitement through discussions about the various habitats of animals, what they eat and how they grow. This actively excites children and fosters their growing understanding about the world around them. Children's interest in wildlife is further enhanced in the garden. Children uncover insects and worms during their mini-beast searches and talk about their findings. They notice the changing seasons and they jump and splash excitedly in the rainy puddles. The garden is exceptionally well utilised to support all areas of children's learning. Adults encourage team games as

children excitedly have a go at sack races and egg and spoon races up and down the garden.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children's growing understanding about the importance of healthy living is expertly fostered. Adults sit with the children during their mealtimes to promote a family environment and encourage children's excellent manners. Children's daily access to the superb facilities in the garden ensures that they are able to make their own choices about how they want to move and what equipment they are going to use. They have excellent opportunities to develop their risk-taking skills and are skilfully supported to build on this through close supervision at all times.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children develop empathy and demonstrate care for their friends. They are keen to share, take turns with tools and equipment and help in tidy-up times. Adults praise their efforts, ensuring that their excellent positive behaviour is embedded. The childminder and her assistants work as a team to make sure all children, including those receiving funded education, are closely monitored. As a result, school readiness is a high priority and children's developmental progression is rapid.
