The childminder uses her detailed observations and assessments to identify children's next steps and plan experiences for them based upon their interests. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder keeps them well informed of children's progress through verbal feedback, communication books and regular review meetings. Parents regularly share information about children's learning and development at home. This helps to promote the continuity of their learning and development. The childminder has a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She is well qualified and has many years of experience in caring for young children. The childminder attends regular training to develop her understanding of best practice and raise the quality of teaching further. Children are polite and well behaved. diverse world in which they live and have interesting opportunities to learn about other cultures. Children talk to each other to find out who their family members are and where they live in the world.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder tracks individual children's progress. However, she has not established consistent methods to track different groups of children, in order to identify areas where they need further support.

develop consistent methods to track different groups of children, in order to quickly address any areas where they need further support.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at children's assessment records and the planning documentation. The inspector observed a planned activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of all household members and the childminder's qualifications. She also looked at the childminder's self-evaluation form and discussed her improvement plan. The inspector asked the childminder questions about her practice at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of the written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is aware of her responsibility to keep children safe and knows the procedures to follow to protect them. She shares her clear policies and procedures with parents and keeps them well informed of her practice. Children are kept safe from hazards through the childminder's rigorous risk assessments and diligent supervision. The childminder reflects on all aspects of her practice. She seeks the views of parents and children and shows a good understanding of her strengths and areas for improvement. Parents state they are happy with the care and education the childminder provides and feel fully involved in their children's learning. They comment on how well their children have made progress in her care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of how children learn and develop through play. Activities cover the areas of learning and are tailored to the children's individual stages of development. The childminder offers children an effective balance of planned activities and spontaneous events to promote their learning further. This contributes to the levels of curiosity and enthusiasm to learn that children show. Children have good communication skills. The childminder consistently listens and responds to their emerging vocabulary, encouraging them to speak and engage in conversations. Children enjoy using their imagination when playing musical instruments and like to include the childminder in their songs.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder organises her home very well. Children access a wide range of quality resources and move around independently, selecting activities and toys that appeal to them. The childminder works closely with parents from the outset to determine children's individual care needs and abilities. Children are treated with warmth and kindness. They form strong attachments with the childminder and demonstrate that they feel safe and emotionally secure. Children enjoy regular opportunities to be outside and enjoy the fresh air as they visit local parks and childminding groups. They also benefit from eating a good variety of nutritious foods. Children thoroughly enjoy making their own healthy pizzas for their lunch. Children learn good hygiene procedures and are able to identify why they need to wash their hands. They are becoming independent in managing their personal care needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are active learners and have good levels of confidence and self-esteem. All children, including funded children, make good progress from their starting points. They are developing their understanding of early mathematics. Children are confident communicators and their early literacy skills are good. This helps to prepare them for more formal learning in the future.
