This provision is good
Children build close relationships with the childminder. These relationships and clear routines ensure their physical and emotional needs are promptly met. The childminder sets clear boundaries that keep children safe and foster respect. The childminder frequently observes children, focusing particularly on developing the skills that children need for the next stage in their learning. The childminder promotes children's communication and language development particularly well. She encourages children to think, copy, and to respond to questions, and helps to extend their vocabulary. The childminder regularly reflects on all aspects of her service, looking for ways to improve. She identifies her strengths and uses effective methods for researching new ideas to drive forward improvements.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the best use of all opportunities to share detailed information about children's learning and development with other settings that children regularly attend. The childminder does not consider enough how to share information effectively with all parents, in particular to influence their children's outcomes and progress further at home.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children at play throughout the inspection. She also assessed the quality of teaching, and its impact on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including a selection of the childminder's policies, and looked at children's records. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written comments made available during the inspection. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation processes and plans for improvement.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is clear about her role and responsibilities. Safeguarding is effective. She is fully aware of the signs that may cause concern for a child's welfare, and knows how to respond to any concerns. The childminder maintains a safe environment by reviewing risks and supervising children closely. She keeps up to date with changes in childcare. For example, she undertakes training, reads recent publications and shares good practice with other providers. This helps her to be confident and secure in her practice and to continually develop her good skills in supporting children's care and learning. The childminder has good relationships with parents.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her knowledge of the learning and development requirements effectively to promote children's learning well. The childminder has a good knowledge of the children she cares for and how they learn. She recognises their achievements and takes swift action to close any emerging gaps in children's development. She regularly observes children and monitors the educational programmes to make sure that all children are making good progress. Young children become engrossed as they explore, for example, by mixing the properties of flour, water and colouring to make playdough. The childminder makes good use of books, songs and rhymes to engage children's interest and to support their growing vocabulary. Children's independence is promoted well and they are motivated and eager to learn. Parents are happy with the care provided and comment positively on the progress that their children have made in their development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. They receive regular praise and reassurance from the childminder while they engage in their play. Displays of children's artwork help the children to feel part of the setting. The childminder ensures that children develop a good understanding of healthy lifestyles. For example, they have opportunities for regular exercise in the garden and local parks. Children develop an understanding of the importance of a balanced diet and are encouraged to try new foods through a varied range of healthy, nutritious snacks and meals. The childminder provides children with good opportunities to develop an understanding of the wider community. For example, they regularly enjoy the outdoors and visit various community groups together.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop the confidence, skills and abilities to support their future growth and development. In particular, children have skills that considerably enhance their health, personal development and well-being. Children acquire valuable wider knowledge, particularly in their learning about different religions, cultures and communities.
