This monitoring visit

The home was judged as declined effectiveness at the interim inspection in February 2016. One compliance notice was issued in relation to regulation 14: the care planning standard with particular reference to the admissions process.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A meeting took place with the provider in March 2016 where leaders and managers provided Ofsted with an update of the actions they had taken, and will continue to take, in response to the interim inspection findings and the compliance notice. Following this meeting leaders and managers have continued to provide Ofsted with regular updates of the action they are taking to improve the admissions policy, processes and protocols.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Ofsted carried out a monitoring visit on 04 April 2016 to review the action taken to deal with the compliance notice. The inspector spoke with leaders and managers and scrutinised a number of documents pertaining to the admissions process. There were no young people living at the home at the time of the monitoring visit.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The inspector found that leaders and managers have reviewed the admissions processes and policy. The policy now requires leaders and managers to ensure that rigorous planning takes place and all information is obtained about a young person prior to their admission. Leaders and managers will then use this information to make decisions about whether a young person’s needs can be met. In addition, leaders and managers have sought external professional advice in respect of therapeutic and behavioural support, and assessment. They plan to use this advice and expertise to further strengthen their decision making process.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The inspector found that leaders and managers have taken sufficient action to strengthen the admission process, however, no young people have been admitted to the home since the interim inspection. As a result, the impact of the action leaders and managers have taken cannot be fully assessed at this time.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A further full inspection will be carried out to assess the ongoing performance of the home and to evaluate the progress in dealing with the remaining ten requirements raised at the interim inspection.
