This provision is good
The childminder provides a warm and caring environment where children are respected and valued. She supports children's emotional well-being and helps them form secure attachments. The childminder successfully plans and provides a range of resources and activities based on the children's interests and their next steps in learning. She supports children to make good progress in all areas of learning. Settling-in arrangements are used well to build positive relationships with children and their families from the start. The childminder regularly shares information with parents about children's progress and their daily activities. She encourages parents to support their children's ongoing learning and development at home. The childminder makes effective use of ongoing reflection and evaluation to build on her strengths and to identify areas for improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children opportunities to choose additional resources without seeking adult help. This means that sometimes children are unable to fully develop their play and extend their learning independently. Sometimes the childminder misses opportunities to stimulate children's interest and engagement in creative experiences and imaginative play.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises and looked at areas available for children to use. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other adults in the household. The inspector looked at a range of documentations, including children's records, policies and procedures. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact on children's learning.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures to follow should she be concerned about the welfare of a child. She helps children learn how to keep safe. For example, they regularly practise fire drills so that they know what to do in an emergency situation. The childminder uses her effective self-evaluation to target relevant training courses and shares her newly gained knowledge with her assistant. She regularly meets with other childminders and early years professionals to share ideas. Together with her assistant, the childminder implements changes to improve the outcomes for children and raise the quality of her provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder works effectively with parents to gather information about their children's interests and abilities when they first start. She also finds out about children's families and home routines to help her fully understand their needs and to promote continuity. The childminder monitors and tracks children's progress from their starting points. She accurately identifies any gaps in their development and works together with their parents and other professionals to help them catch up. The quality of teaching is good and the childminder knows the children well. She plans activities based on the children's interest and gently supports their learning through her positive interactions with them. The childminder provides lots of encouragement to children and celebrates achievements with them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. She establishes nurturing and caring relationships with the children and manages behaviour well. The childminder provides a range of opportunities to help children understand about different people and communities. For example, they regularly attend a range of community play settings where they mix with others. Children are supported to become independent from an early age. For example, they learn to feed themselves using age-appropriate cutlery and wash their hands after toileting. The childminder focuses well on supporting children's physical well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles. For example, she frequently uses the outdoors to support children's active play in the fresh air.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and are working within the range of development that is typical for their age. Children feel secure, develop their confidence as independent learners, and are effectively supported and prepared for their next step in learning.
