The manager, who has been registered with Ofsted since March 2016, has the necessary skills and qualifications to lead and manage this home. The Registered Manager is in the process of identifying a suitably qualified and experienced staff team from within the organisation’s own resources and is to supplement this team with the two newly recruited members of staff. The manager ensures the home continues to function and is suitable to take any new admissions, as she maintains regular checks and visits to the home. This, alongside the independent person’s monthly monitoring visits ensures that the manager is aware of the strengths and areas for continued development for the home.

The Registered Manager has taken appropriate action to ensure that one of the four recommendations has been adequately met. As a result the fabric of the home has improved and is now ready to provide a comfortable and nurturing home environment for children and young people. The inspector was unable to evaluate if suitable action has been taken to address the one outstanding requirement and three further good practice recommendations as there have not been any young people admitted into the home since the last inspection. As such the requirement relating to the independent visitor seeking the views of young people to form an opinion as to whether children are effectively safeguarded and whether the conduct of the home promotes their well-being, has been re-issued. In addition, the three outstanding recommendations which relate to: ensuring that all staff are suitably qualified and experienced; ensuring appropriate supervision for the

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
