This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit follows a judgement of declined effectiveness made at an interim inspection judgement on 16 February 2016. There were several requirements and recommendations made at the last inspection, including a concern regarding the home environment not being safe or conducive to good child care practice. Damage to the home had not been swiftly or adequately rectified. This resulted in the home being unsafe for young people. The purpose of this monitoring visit was to determine whether this concern had been adequately addressed.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Swift action has been taken to make the home environment safe for young people. The provider has addressed the immediate issues of safety within the home. Damage caused by young people, such as, holes in walls and a broken toilet seat have been repaired. The staircase has been made safe and windows have been replaced. Damage to architrave and an electric socket in a young person’s bedroom has also been repaired and made safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Extensive redecoration and refurbishment of the home is ongoing. The kitchen units in the main house are still missing but the inspector has been informed that a new kitchen is on order and is due to arrive very soon. At the present time no young people are living in the main house.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Outside the property looked clean and tidy although the fence around an oil storage tank was not locked to prevent young people gaining access to it. This was brought to the attention of the provider and will be examined at the next inspection.
