Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection issues. The childminder significantly improves outcomes for children through highly effective systems of evaluation. She has developed an ambitious culture that has a very positive impact on all children. For example, she attended training to develop the learning environment. Subsequently, she introduced a very attractive space at the bottom of a bunk bed, equipped with its own toys, curtains and lighting, to encourage children further to read books and develop their communication skills. The childminder plans to improve her setting further by developing resourcing in her outside area. provision for children throughout her neighbourhood.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children consolidate their skills and develop new concepts. For example, the childminder showed children how to put blueberries inside raspberries to develop the small muscles in their fingers. Children remained on task, developing their mathematics as they used the fruit to count in twos. The childminder provides very interesting activities that appeal to children's curious nature. For example, children examined eggs in their shells, learning that raw eggs will spin and boiled ones will not. They eagerly made predictions before cracking them, discussing their different properties and developing their vocabulary. Children are exceptionally well prepared for the move to pre-school and school.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are settled, happy and interested. Their behaviour is consistently excellent. The skilful childminder helps children to learn to share and think of each other's feelings, for example as they play with a toy garage. Children get plenty of fresh air and exercise, and enjoy exciting trips and outings. For example, children build dens and cook marshmallows in their local woodland area. The childminder promotes children's social skills skilfully. She provides children with lots of challenge and praises them to encourage success while they play and explore. Children have built very firm emotional attachments with the childminder and this gives them an excellent platform from which to make progress.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are motivated, excited and eager to get involved and take part in activities. They develop strong concentration skills and enjoy the activities and experiences available. Children work with excellent levels of independence; they lead their own play and make exciting discoveries.
