The inspector spoke to a parent and read letters and questionnaires from parents and took account of their views. The inspector had discussions with the childminder throughout the inspection about her practice and children's learning and development.

She has a meticulous understanding of how to identify and address potential risks. She gives high priority to continuing her professional development and uses what she learns to improve outcomes for children. For example, following training, she can now identify more precisely where children have gaps in their learning. The childminder has excellent links with other professionals and works extremely closely with them, sharing information to help promote consistency in children's learning. The childminder makes sure that her assistant implements her policies, and she closely monitors her practice.

She uses this information exceptionally well to help her plan children's next steps for learning; linking their interests effectively to help her plan exciting and challenging activities. The childminder actively involves parents in their children's learning; seeking key information from them on children's starting points and ongoing achievements. She keeps parents very well informed. For example, she routinely shares detailed information with them and actively encourages them to extend further their children's learning at home. She uses activities to build on children's learning. For example, children use dry cereal to practise their threading skills. However, at times, she does not always challenge their thinking skills further when they find a task difficult.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Her excellent use of praise and consistent approach help to support children's emotional well-being and motivate them to be responsible for their own feelings and behaviour. Children form very secure bonds with her and build strong friendships with each other. Behaviour is exemplary, and children show exceptional levels of confidence and self-esteem. Children gain excellent independent skills and are encouraged from a young age to meet their own personal care needs.
