This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder is experienced and clearly enjoys her role. She understands child development well and knows that children learn through play. The childminder gets to know children and their families well. Partnership with parents is good. The childminder regularly shares information with them about the progress their children make. She uses daily diaries and ongoing communication to share ideas with parents and encourage them to support their child's learning at home. The childminder has a stimulating and well-resourced playroom. She provides children with a wealth of exciting toys that sparks their curiosity and encourages them to explore and investigate while they play. The childminder is warm and caring in her approach. Children form secure attachments with her and demonstrate good levels of confidence and self-esteem. Children learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles. They regularly play outdoors

and often do not want to come inside. In addition, the childminder provides a variety of fruit for snack time to teach children about healthy eating. The childminder has identified her strengths and she is aware of some areas she can improve. The childminder successfully engages parents in the self-evaluation process. She regularly asks them to express their views about her service.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not had a strong enough focus on her professional development to raise the standard of her teaching to an exceptional level. The childminder's partnerships with other settings that children attend are not yet strong enough to ensure that they benefit from continuity in their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas used by the children. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of the childminder and members of her household. The inspector took account of the views of parents expressed in written testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is aware of her responsibilities to protect children from abuse and neglect. Necessary suitability checks for all adults living on the premises have been completed. The childminder has a good understanding of how to manage and minimise risks for children. Her home is secure and she is fully aware of her responsibilities to supervise children both in the home and when on outings. Records, policies and procedures required for the safe and efficient management of the provision are very well organised, maintained and implemented. Parents comment on the childminder's care. They say how much their children enjoy attending and how they are kept informed about their children's activities and progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is committed to helping young children reach their full potential. She completes regular observations and effectively uses this information to assess their progress. She plans a range of activities based on children's interests and next steps. The childminder introduces activities that provide opportunities for children to learn about different aspects of mathematics. She plays alongside toddlers as they use tools to manipulate dough and identify shapes. The childminder talks about the different size of the shapes. This helps children to develop some skills they will need for pre-school and school. The childminder's tracking of children's progress helps her to promptly identify and address gaps in children's learning. This helps to improve outcomes for children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children demonstrate they are happy in their surroundings and show pleasure in their play and in their interactions with the childminder. Children develop a good sense of belonging through the childminder's consistent praise and encouragement. The childminder regularly takes children on trips to the park. This helps to extend their physical skills and helps them to begin to understand that exercise is fun. The childminder encourages children to extend their emotional and social skills by taking them to local toddler groups. This helps them to confidently mix and learn in larger groups and in different surroundings.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in all areas of their learning. They acquire new skills and reach at least typical levels of development for their age. Toddlers concentrate and persevere as they work out how to use complicated mechanical toys. Younger children's speaking skills are developing well and they chatter away confidently to the childminder. Children demonstrate they have a positive attitude to learning. Children behave well and are polite. They are learning how to manage their feelings and behaviour.
