This provision is good
The childminder promotes children's learning well. She provides a good range of activities that sustain children's interest and challenge them. All children make good progress given their starting points. Partnerships with parents are effective. Parents comment that they feel informed about children's progress and are grateful for the support they receive, particularly to extend learning at home. The childminder skilfully supports children's physical development. For example, she engages children in many different types of dance and exercise. Children adopt good eating habits, for example, they enjoy nutritionally balanced meals and snacks. The childminder uses the views of parents and children effectively to reflect on the quality of her provision and make improvements. For example, following further training, she has improved how she listens to children's views and choices.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities for children to extend their understanding and use of mathematical language, for example, when describing the different positions of objects. Children do not have enough experiences to extend their interest to explore everyday technology and understand how things work.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

extend further children's understanding and use of mathematical language, to enhance their learning skills create more opportunities for children to explore and investigate how things work, particularly to broaden their understanding of technology.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's play and learning throughout the inspection, including their interaction with the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's developmental records, the childminder's policies and procedures, and her self-evaluation processes. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder and discussed the findings. The inspector took account of parents' views through discussions with parents during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder uses effective processes to monitor children's development and to address their learning needs. She works well with parents and other professionals who also share children's care to achieve a joint and consistent approach to meeting children's needs. The childminder develops her knowledge and skills effectively, for example, she accesses relevant and up-to-date information, such as through emails, and attends further training to improve her practice. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and is alert to issues which may affect children's safety and feelings of well-being.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder creates opportunities for children to play alongside each other and share resources to help build relationships. She also encourages children to engage with one another to extend their communication skills; for example, she talks to individual children to draw them into a shared conversation. The childminder generally knows how to extend children's interests, such as about animals. For example, while children played with building bricks and different sorts of animals, she encouraged children to name animals and group them into types, such as farm, jungle and prehistoric. The childminder promotes children's physical and creative development well. For example, she encourages children to connect bricks together and build complex tall and flat structures, which also brings meaning to their game.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes good personal and social values with children. She helps them gain a sense of pride in themselves and supports them to value differences between themselves and others. She effectively promotes behaviour expectations, such as good manners, and children learn to show empathy towards the feelings of others. Furthermore, the childminder provides a range of experiences, such as through books and planned activities, to help children gain a deeper awareness of the wider community. The childminder encourages children to learn about risks while keeping them safe, as they try out new challenges. There are opportunities for children to take care of their own personal care needs, such as learning toileting skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills needed in preparation for school. For example, they learn to build and maintain good friendships. They confidently manage daily tasks independently and are confident communicators. Overall, children make good progress in their learning.
