Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder has a good awareness of how children learn and promotes their development and welfare well. She monitors children's progress successfully and uses what she learns about children's individual learning needs to help her plan good activities and experiences that extend their learning. The childminder regularly attends training to keep her knowledge up to date; for example, she has recently attended training on working with boys, to help her to extend their engagement in activities. Safeguarding is effective. The childminderis fully aware of her role and responsibility to protect children and is confident about what to do in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. Parents praise the good relationships that the childminder has with their children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder provides a welcoming home and a stimulating play environment. She interacts and plays well with the children to ignite their interest and to help them to gain skills to aid their future learning. For example, at inspection the children enjoyed playing with toy animals, and the childminder talked to them about where the animals live, their colours and what they like to eat. The childminder fosters children's communication and language development well. For example, she initiates conversations with the children and teaches them how to pronounce new words.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are very confident in the childminder's home and happily help themselves to the easily accessible resources and play materials. The childminder encourages children to gain independence very well. For example, during mealtimes, the childminder encourages children to open containers and undo packaging to help prepare them to manage packed lunches at school. Children's good health is well maintained through consistent health and hygiene routines, such as hand washing and having plenty of drinks. Children have good opportunities to be physically active, for example, as they enjoy walks within the community and play on climbing equipment in local parks.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children play and explore with enthusiasm. They are confident learners and are making good progress in their attention and learning. They show good attention and listening skills. Children are self-assured and are gaining the skills they need to prepare them for moving on to pre-school or school. Children are independent, confident communicators, polite, respectful and show consideration for others.
