Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and the procedure to follow should she have any concerns about their welfare. The childminder is committed to providing children with good quality care and learning experiences. She sets clear priorities for improvement and regularly seeks the views of parents and children. The childminder has strong partnerships with parents and involves them well in their children's development. Parents comment positively on the quality of care and learning that their children receive and the good daily communication with the childminder. The childminder tailors her service around the children in her care to fully meet their needs, such as adapting the menu to reflect dietary restrictions and preferences.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy playing with the wide variety of resources the childminder provides. The childminder follows the children's lead in play. She uses her knowledge of children's interests to promote their early mathematical and literacy skills. For example, every morning children write their name using a magnetic board and letters. The childminder makes accurate assessments of children. She plans appropriate next steps for their learning, taking into account their interests and developmental needs. She effectively monitors children's development and identifies any emerging gaps in their learning. The childminder skilfully supports children's communication and language development. For example, during play, she models simple words and narrates what children are doing. She asks appropriate questions that help to extend children's learning.
