Two recommendations were made at the last inspection, the registered manager has taken appropriate action to address these identified areas. There are no shortfalls emerging from this inspection. Young people continue to make good progress in all aspects of their development as a result of the care and support they receive from staff. Since the last inspection, two young people have moved into the home. Young people continue to move in a well-assessed and thoroughly planned way. Staff continue to support young people extremely well with their behaviour. They quickly develop positive relationships with staff, and these underpin effective working. Clear and updated risk assessments and behaviour management plans identify young people’s trigger points. Appropriate rewards and incentives help them maintain positive behaviour. Young people learn to self-regulate their behaviour and begin to understand expectations of their conduct.

Young people’s safety remains a priority. Young people say they feel safe. The staff and registered manager refer any safeguarding incidents to the relevant professionals. Staff consistently work collaboratively with other professionals to manage risks. Some young people have been missing from the home since the last inspection. During these occasions risks are well assessed by staff. Staff respond well to all missing incidents and continue to work very effectively with other agencies. Young people continue to make progress at school. Communication between staff and school enhances educational progress. Where young people display challenging behaviour staff liaise closely with teachers and identify supportive strategies that help decrease incidents happening in the future. Young people’s health needs are constantly promoted and reviewed. For example, staff ensure that young people have access to individual specialist services such as

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
