Older children are good role models to the younger children. Children chatter about their day. They share their experiences and take a keen interest in what each other has to say. Partnerships with parents and school are good. Good communication and sharing of information promotes continuity of learning and enables the childminder to provide care that meets their needs. Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed an activity and discussed teaching methods with the provider. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults living in and working in the home. The inspector took account of the written views of the parents.
p.2

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder's knowledge of procedures for protecting children from abuse and neglect are secure. She takes effective steps to ensure that all areas of the home are safe and well maintained. The childminder actively seeks the views of the parents and children using her service. She reflects on her own practice and is keen to continue her professional development. Effective steps are in place for cascading new information and good practice to her assistant. The childminder fully understands the benefits of sharing information between settings. The childminder gathers information to share with parents and to support children's learning.
p.3

She works closely with parents to gather information about their child's progress and interests at home. The childminder also works alongside teaching staff gathering information about the children's day and any topics or learning that she may continue while children are in her care. Children's communication skills are well supported by the childminder and they chatter to her and each other about their day. Children are confident and fully aware of the routines as they arrive home from school. Children have many opportunities to be creative. Using a wide variety of craft materials they explore colour and create different patterns. Children play well together and take turns. They enjoy hiding and waiting for their friends to find them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gathers key information from parents about their child. This enables her to effectively meet their care needs. Children's confidence and self-esteem are nurtured. They understand what acceptable behaviour is. They share, take turns and understand the concept of negotiation for favourite resources. Children spend lots of time outdoors being physically active. Children's ideas and views are sought with regard to healthy meals and they are given choices. Dietary needs are respected. Children learn about the food cycle and spend time at the childminder's family allotment.
p.3
