p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector discussed children's learning and activities with the childminder throughout the inspection. The inspector reviewed a sample of relevant policies and documents including children's records, evidence of qualifications and training, and suitability checks. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process, and took account of letters and feedback from parents. The inspector observed children's play indoors and took account of learning shown in photographs.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands child protection procedures and has robust policies in place for keeping children safe. She makes positive changes to her practice following training; for example, she encouraged children to persevere and gave them more time to solve problems when they tried to repair a toy slide. She considers the views of children and parents when assessing her work. Overall, the childminder accurately reviews her provision and works hard to maintain a good standard. The childminder sets high expectations for children's learning. She monitors children's progress and works closely with other settings that they attend to ensure assessments are accurate.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses good teaching methods to promote children's learning and development. She takes every opportunity to introduce concepts and ideas into children's daily routines. For example, she discussed halves with children when they were eating their snack to develop their mathematical understanding. Children delight in snuggling up to the childminder and listening to favourite stories. They draw confidently and enjoy completing puzzles. Overall, the childminder works well with parents. She extends children's learning by including interests from home. For example, she provided song tracks for dancing and acting after children saw a musical theatre show.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder forms close relationships with children and their families. She works closely with parents to settle children into her home. Children's behaviour is good, and parents comment that children 'develop good social skills and respect for others.' The childminder effectively teaches children how to take care of the environment. For example, they learn the importance of recycling. Children make independent choices about where they play and have lots of access to exercise in the open air. Older children develop balancing and climbing skills on a good range of equipment, and the childminder enhances this by using local parks to provide further challenge. Children enjoy eating fruits and being able to access fresh water. They develop a good understanding of healthy eating habits.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children achieve well, given what they already know when they start. They become enthusiastic and confident learners. For example, as the childminder reads to them, they delight in saying the specific names for male, female and baby animals. Children count confidently and name larger numbers as they play. They are effectively prepared for the next stage in their learning and school.
