This provision is good
Children are cared for in a bright and inviting playroom. A range of resources is provided, covering all areas of learning. Children make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder is warm, friendly and sensitive to children's emotional needs and well- being. Children are extremely relaxed, happy and eager to play and learn. The childminder works closely with parents and involves them in their children's care and learning. Children benefit from this consistent approach to their development. Parents are very happy with the service provided and comment that the childminder is absolutely fabulous. Children have good opportunities to make choices and to lead their own learning. The childminder is responsive to their interests and uses these to promote their next steps in learning. The childminder is well organised and reflects on her practice. She has high expectations and is eager for the children in her care to develop and enjoy themselves.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Overall, the childminder supports children's language development well. However, she does not always give children enough time to process questions and at times, she answers for them. Occasionally, younger children are not fully included in activities as the childminder focuses her attention on older children.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's play in the childminder's playroom. The inspector looked at children's records, a selection of policies and evidence of the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector observed adult and child interactions. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is very organised and efficient. She evaluates all aspects of her provision and is committed to continual improvement. She has a range of policies and procedures, underpinning the safe and efficient management of the setting. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows the correct procedure to follow if she has any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder is well qualified and she attends further training. She seeks advice and support from a range of other professionals, helping to raise the overall quality of the provision. The childminder monitors the progress children are making and ensures plans are put in place to promote their good progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers useful information from parents as children start at the setting. This helps her to plan for children's care and learning needs from the start. Regular observations and assessments of children's progress are made. The childminder uses this information to plan opportunities to support individual children's learning where gaps are identified. This helps children develop new skills and achieve their next steps in learning. The childminder uses a range of effective teaching strategies to help children learn. For example, babies are beginning to babble and make first sounds as the childminder sings and encourages them to shake musical instruments. The childminder promotes early mathematical skills for older children. For example, as children play with skittles the childminder asks how many they have knocked down. Children develop a love of books and enjoy choosing favourite stories for the childminder to read.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is kind and caring, and provides a welcoming and friendly environment. Children form strong attachments with the childminder and each other. The childminder knows the children well. She recognises when babies are feeling upset or unsure. She gives them plenty of reassurance and cuddles until they are soon smiling again. Children develop good social skills and behave well. The childminder teaches them to take turns with toys and to consider the feelings of others. The childminder provides children with nutritious snacks and activities that involve fresh air and exercise. Children learn to lead healthy lifestyles in her care.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain confidence and develop good independence skills in the childminder's care. Children independently select toys and activities. When they have finished playing with resources, children work well together and willingly tidy them all away. Children learn about colour, number, shape and size as the childminder encourages them to build with bricks. They use their imagination as they play with cars and kitchen equipment. The childminder supports children to gain a range of key skills, preparing them well for their future learning.
