p.3

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate

Safeguarding is not effective. The childminder has not assessed her suitability, in her current state of health, to care for children to ensure their welfare and well-being. She regularly leaves children in the sole care of her assistants for more than two hours a day. This has a detrimental impact on the quality of care and attention children receive. The childminder has failed to keep Ofsted properly informed of significant events and changes to her circumstances. The childminder does not identify breaches in requirements and has a poor capacity to evaluate the quality of her provision to drive improvements for children. The childminder has not kept parents fully informed of issues that may have an impact on their children's learning, care and welfare needs. She has an up-to-date knowledge of child protection issues and procedures.

p.4

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate

The childminder does not meet children's individual learning needs effectively. She fails to provide children with enjoyable learning experiences and does not engage their interest in activities or give them sufficient support to promote their learning. The childminder does not focus her attention on children's play and learning. The childminder does not extend children's vocabulary and communication skills through meaningful interactions.

p.4

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate

The childminder does not ensure children feel emotionally secure and safe in her setting. Although she encourages children to be kind to others, she does not diffuse conflicts between young children. Conflicts between children are frequent, causing upset and disruption to their play and learning. Children become bored and disruptive. For example, they play with, and pull on curtains, which present a significant risk to their safety. The childminder does not undertake effective risk assessments or take swift and appropriate action to ensure dangers to children are identified and addressed. On the day of the inspection, the path leading to the front door was broken and slippery, posing a safety risk to children and others.

p.4

Outcomes for children are inadequate

Children do not make expected progress or gain the skills they need for the next stage of their learning or for school. They are not interested or motivated to play and learn purposefully.
