The childminder's enthusiasm engages children's interest to try out new activities and experiences. The childminder works consistently and extremely effectively with parents and other childcarers. Inspection activities
The inspector observed care routines and teaching, and the impact of these on children's safety, welfare and learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of some of the parents through discussion and written documents. The inspector looked at children's records, discussed planning and looked at a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder attends safeguarding refresher courses to keep her knowledge updated. She knows how to identify and refer concerns regarding children's welfare and safety. The childminder has a secure knowledge of child development, gained through achieving a childcare qualification. She plans a varied and interesting range of activities that supports children's continued progress. The childminder continues her professional development as she attends local groups to share good practice and gain knowledge of current childcare issues. She uses this information to reflect on her own provision and makes improvements that benefit children. Assessment is well focused and is used very successfully to identify children's learning needs. The childminder works extremely well to support children's development with other childcare professionals.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is skilled at providing a wide range of activities and experiences that arouse children's curiosity to learn. She enhances their learning by laying out attractive resources and inviting them to play. The childminder interacts with children, extending their learning and challenging them. For example, young children play with jelly. The childminder provides a range of resources to enhance children's interest in scooping and moving the jelly. She talks to them about how the jelly feels and what they can do with it. The childminder successfully supports all areas of learning. Older children have simple letters to find underneath in a tray of seeds. They use a range of tools, such as tweezers to dig, sort and lift the letters out. The childminder successfully tracks children's progress and uses her observations and assessments to plan activities for children's further development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children play in an extremely well resourced and organised environment. The childminder provides children with well thought out challenges in their play. She encourages them to take risks and assess how to keep themselves safe. The childminder skilfully plans for children's specific and individual needs. She uses innovative ways to encourage children's independence from a young age. All children have excellent levels of concentration as they engage in self-chosen activities. They are extremely happy and confident. Children are highly regarded and valued as unique individuals by the childminder. They form exceptionally positive relationships with her which helps meet their emotional needs. The childminder and parents share a wealth of information that enables all children's individual needs to be consistently met. Children enjoy a superb range of outings and experiences that promotes their social skills and awareness of the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
