This provision is outstanding

 Children are highly motivated, keen to learn and make exceptional progress in all areas of their learning.  Play areas are exceptionally well resourced and space both indoors and out is used extremely creatively to enable children to make many choices in what they play with and how they play.  The childminder is highly reflective in all she does. She is proactive in seeking feedback from parents and children to help her identify and make improvements. She is committed to improving her own skills to help her continue to improve outcomes for children.  The childminder offers exceptional support for children's language and communication skills. For example, she engages children in discussions, listens to what they have to say and models the correct pronunciation of words to help children communicate clearly with each other.  Children are exceptionally confident and relaxed. The childminder values and respects

their individual needs extremely well in everything she does.  Partnerships with parents are highly successful. Information about children's care and learning needs is shared on a daily basis. Parents have opportunities to borrow resources if they wish to enable them to extend children's learning further at home.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 increase opportunities for children to learn about where they fit into their own family, to further enhance their awareness of what makes them unique.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home.  The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures.  The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation and written feedback from parents.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder constantly strives to improve her provision and has very high expectations of herself and aspirations for children. She continues to build on her knowledge and skills to help her make improvements. For example, she has made highly successful changes to the play environments, both indoors and outdoors, to dramatically improve outcomes for children's learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have an excellent awareness of safeguarding matters and know exactly what to do if they have concerns about a child. The childminder is highly professional in her role. She and her co- minder regularly monitor the effectiveness of their assistants, identifying and providing training where necessary.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The children thrive as they access an incredibly wide range of exciting and challenging activities. They are happy, busy and engaged in their play at all times and receive excellent support based on their individual learning needs from the childminder and her assistants. The highly skilled childminder joins in with the children and extends the fun they have and their learning through her interactions. For example, when children experiment in the mud kitchen, she engages them in discussions to extend their use of language and make them more aware of number order and value. Children have many opportunities to make choices in their play, increasing their independence. The childminder is astute to children's interests and quickly adapts plans to reflect these. For example, a singing time session was quickly organised when younger children showed an interest in the song cards. Children joined in enthusiastically, marching around the room,

copying actions and confidently singing words out loud, demonstrating the fun they were having.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children's emotional and physical well-being is promoted extremely well. They are exceptionally happy and develop independence as they grow. Children are very sociable and learn how to behave. The childminder teaches children how to share and take turns. She and her co-workers remain consistent and fair in their expectations. The children are confident and have a strong sense of belonging. The childminder frequently uses words in languages other than English, reflecting children's home lives. However, opportunities to encourage children to become more aware of how they fit into their own family are less well planned for.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make exceptional progress based on their individual starting points. They are highly motivated, eager to learn and prepared well for the next stage in their learning.
