This provision is good
Children are confident in the warm, welcoming environment. The childminder knows the children well and supports their physical and emotional well-being. The childminder has good systems in place to track children's development. She plans specific activities throughout the day and any gaps in children's learning are identified and addressed quickly. This supports children in making good progress. The childminder establishes positive and trusting relationships with parents. They work very closely with each other and share information to ensure children's care and learning needs are continually met. The childminder is a good role model. She respects children's views and opinions and in return children demonstrate good caring behaviour and create good friendships.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder accurately identifies the strengths of the provision. However, self- evaluation does not sufficiently focus on priorities or plans to secure continuous improvement. The childminder attends mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid. However, she has not implemented a targeted programme of professional development to contribute towards raising the quality of the provision to the highest standard.

Inspection activities
The inspector sampled children's assessment records and planning documentation. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of all adults living in the household and looked at a selection of policies and procedures, including safeguarding and self- evaluation. The inspector observed the childminder playing and interacting with the children. The inspector took account of the views of parents. The inspector viewed the premises, toys and equipment.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and knows how to respond if she has concerns about a child's welfare. She effectively implements a range of written policies and procedures that supports her good practice. All required records and documents are in place and all adults who live in the setting have undergone appropriate checks. Furthermore, her home is secure and she makes daily checks of the environment to minimise or remove any potential risks. The childminder works closely with other childminders, sharing ideas and good practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The well-qualified childminder has a good understanding of how to promote children's learning. She observes, assesses and plans activities according to children's interests and their next stages of learning. The level of teaching is good. The childminder skilfully provides purposeful activities and adapts them appropriately to meet all children's learning needs. She promotes mathematical language and concepts well. For example, during a play dough activity she focuses on shape, size and sequence and children are encouraged to count, add amounts together and take them away. Children listen intently as the childminder reads stories to them and points to pictures and words, helping children to understand what is happening. This also helps to promote their language and early literacy skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children appear happy, content and motivated to play and learn in the well-equipped environment. The childminder gathers information from parents about what children like, what they dislike and what they have already achieved before they start. This information helps the childminder to meet children's care and emotional needs and they settle quickly. Children learn the importance of being healthy and active. The childminder supports them in moving different parts of their body and achieving new physical skills, such as jumping and hopping. Additionally, children are provided with many opportunities to play and learn outdoors. They attend childminding group events and visit other places within the community, such as, museums, farms and garden centres. This helps to build their confidence in different environments and extends their knowledge of the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development. They are curious, interested and independent learners. They gain the self-confidence to talk to unfamiliar people and proudly discuss their achievements. They are provided with challenging experiences that cover all the areas of learning and develop skills to support them in readiness for school.
