This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of her role in meeting requirements to keep children safe and promote their welfare. The childminder develops effective, trusting relationships with parents. She requests that parents share information about their children, to establish a shared approach to children's care and learning, and to achieve good outcomes for children. The childminder is a good role model. She effectively meets the children's physical and emotional needs. Children develop positive attitudes towards others and they behave well. They are confident, independent, and motivated to learn and progress well. The childminder successfully promotes her professional development and evaluates her practice. She has completed further training as part of developing her already good teaching skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not take all opportunities to encourage children to explore simple mathematical ideas during their everyday play. The childminder does not take all opportunities to further extend children's awareness of technology, to encourage them to explore and learn about how things work.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector undertook a tour of the premises. The inspector viewed a range of documentation that the childminder completes for children, including records for the effective management of her provision. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder, parents and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the quality of the interactions between the childminder and the children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to identify any concerns that may affect a child's welfare. She knows which agencies to contact and how to correctly follow procedures. She carries out thorough risk assessments to be able to identify and remove any dangers to children. The childminder closely monitors children's development to enable her to close any emerging gaps in their learning. The childminder has met the recommendations from the previous inspection, and reviews and updates her practice well, to drive improvement. She works effectively with her two assistants. She provides them with continuous support and guidance, to enable them to meet the needs of the children and develop their good practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistants offer children a variety of interesting and exciting learning opportunities. Children enjoy rolling playdough and making shapes as they use their imaginations and creative skills well. The childminder promotes children's early reading skills well. For example, children enjoy listening to stories and begin to understand and follow the storylines. Children happily play with construction resources and learn to build and share as they express their ideas and thoughts. Children enjoy role-play activities and they make their own decisions and use their creative skills well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistants carefully plan which activities and resources best suit children's individual needs. They provide a rich and stimulating learning environment. Children independently choose the activities which interest them. They are always busy and occupied. Children learn about safety. For example, they know how to cross busy roads safely. They enjoy attending many childminding groups in the area. The childminder effectively promotes children's awareness of the differences and similarities between themselves and others in the community. Children have respectful, positive attitudes towards others and become well prepared for school. The childminder helps children to adopt healthy lifestyles, tend to their personal needs and learn through everyday routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are good communicators; they express their needs clearly and develop good relationships with each other. They are helpful and kind towards each other, and show they are happy and secure. Children enjoy table-top games together and develop good personal, social and emotional skills.
