This provision is good
Staff support children to develop their communication and language skills. Children who require additional support with their speech are very well supported. Staff maintain effective relationships with other professionals involved in the children's learning and care. Partnerships with parents are well established. There are good two-way systems for sharing information about children's welfare and achievements. Parents comment how much their children enjoy being at the nursery. Parents appreciate the regular and detailed communication about their children's care and learning. This helps them build on what their children learn in the nursery. The quality of teaching is good. Robust systems for observation, assessment and planning are in place and are used well to extend children's learning. Staff interact positively with children and provide them with lots of praise and encouragement. Children behave well and are confident, self-assured individuals.
p.1
This provision is good
Children are enthusiastic and active learners. They explore the vibrant learning environments and make some independent choices in their play. Clear self-evaluation systems show there is continuous improvement in providing good quality care for all children. This demonstrates the management's drive and commitment to improve outcomes for children and families.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The manager does not yet fully evaluate the progress made by different groups of children. Occasionally, routines create unnecessary interruptions in children's play and children cannot extend their independence skills and explore their own ideas in full.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the deputy manager. The inspector held a meeting with the deputy manager and the provider. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the self-evaluation, policies and procedures, risk assessments and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding children are effective. Clear policies and procedures are in place. These are regularly reviewed, very well understood and implemented robustly by all staff. Risk assessments are undertaken for the nursery and for any outings. There are good procedures in place for dealing with any accidents. This contributes to children's ongoing safety in the nursery. A robust recruitment procedure is in place. This means that all children are cared for by suitable adults. A thorough induction programme is completed. Staff are supported through effective monitoring and supervision. They attend a wide range of training courses. These complement their already very good knowledge. Additionally, this supports them to deliver good quality care and education. Staff are well qualified and experienced, and deployed effectively according to their individual skills and experience.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff interact well with children and good use is made of the playrooms to help them investigate. For example, staff build anticipation and delight as babies make marks with paints. Staff model language by using words such as splash and splosh as their hand hits the paint. Babies respond and repeat familiar words. This helps to develop their listening and attention skills and widen their vocabulary. Older children develop their vocabulary skills as they excitedly share their personal experiences with staff during activities. For instance, children use their imaginations to create and discuss their own representation of their favourite superheroes, as they experiment with malleable dough. This challenges the children to think and they are highly stimulated as they add their own ideas and share these with their peers and staff. Staff use mathematical language with children as they play. This supports children to deepen their understanding and confidence with these
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are settled and happy. They are very well supported as they move between rooms in the nursery and when they begin placement. Children are supported to lead a healthy lifestyle. The meals and snacks provided are healthy, nutritionally balanced and consider unique dietary requirements. Staff provide regular outdoor play experiences that develop children's physical skills and understanding of the world. Children have good exposure to fresh air and exercise, and experience outdoor play in different weather conditions, which adds different dimensions to their learning. Staff support children to move freely and experience risk and challenge. For example, they scale the climbing frame to access the slide. Children also enjoy activities, such as music, dance and drama, supporting their personal, social and emotional development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in all areas of learning. They are motivated to learn and solve problems as they play. All children, including disabled children and those with special educational needs, and children who speak English as an additional language, are very well prepared with the key skills needed for the next stage in their learning and school.
