This provision is good
The childminder works effectively with parents and shares information with them regularly. Children benefit from a high level of continuity in their care and learning. The childminder has warm and caring relationships with children. She is sensitive to their individual routines, and plans the day to meet their needs well. Children are happy and settled in her care. The childminder makes good use of her observations and assessments of children's play to identify the next steps in their learning. Children make good progress and develop the skills they need to be ready for the next stage of their learning. Children learn to share, take turns and play together well. They are respectful of each other's views and feelings. The childminder makes effective use of online resources and information from other professionals to keep up to date with good practice.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully developed partnerships with other early years settings that children attend, to consistently share information about children's achievements and progress. The childminder does not always provide a wide range of activities outdoors to support children's learning, particularly for those who learn best outside.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at the childminder's self-evaluation document and talked with her about how she evaluates and improves her service. The inspector observed the children and the childminder at play. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including evidence of the suitability of household members. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder seeks the views of the parents and children to help her evaluate her service and practice. She reflects on the activities that she provides to support children's development and formulates plans to maintain and improve her service. The childminder is confident in her ability to protect children and promote their welfare. Safeguarding is effective. She understands the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about a child's welfare or safety. The childminder monitors children's progress to identify and plan for any areas where they need extra help to catch up.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children develop good communication and language skills. The childminder has a good understanding of how to develop children's speaking and listening skills. For example, all children learn words in different languages to support and communicate with those who are learning English as an additional language. Children benefit from a good range of play experiences indoors, and they easily choose and lead their own play from the resources available to them. The childminder makes good use of the local area to extend children's experiences. For example, they visit the library, woods and park. Children enjoy looking for squirrels, listening to bird song and trying to find insects hidden under stones and fallen branches. This helps to develop children's understanding of the world.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children engage well in their self-chosen activities. They settle easily, and feel comfortable and confident in the childminder's care. The childminder incudes parents effectively. She shares information with them about children's achievements with her and encourages them to tell her about what children enjoy doing at home. The childminder promotes good behaviour. She uses praise and encouragement to build children's self-esteem. The childminder supports children's independence well and encourages them to manage age- appropriate tasks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in relation to their individual starting points. For example, children learn to persevere when faced with challenge, such as trying to complete complicated puzzles. They develop good levels of confidence. Children effectively use their good social skills and imaginations to explore role play resources, such as tents that look like castles and dressing-up clothes. Children are motivated, engaged and develop the essential skills they need to prepare them well for the next stage in their learning, and for starting school.
