This provision is good

 Children settle swiftly and form strong bonds with the childminder and other children. The childminder skilfully teaches children to respect each other, be polite and use manners throughout the day.  The childminder provides a variety of resources that interest children and they can lead their own play. Children engage with interest and develop their skills very well.  The childminder maintains effective partnerships with parents and other settings that children attend to ensure continuous support for children.  The childminder is vigilant about children's safety. She ensures she takes all compulsory courses, such as safeguarding and first aid, in order to keep up to date, and takes part in educational conferences to find out about any new legislation.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not make the most of all opportunities for children to extend their imagination and creativity.  Occasionally during some daily routines, the noise levels go up, which prevents children from full concentration on what they are interested in.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 provide more opportunities for children to help them extend their imagination and creativity  review some daily routines to manage noise levels, as sometimes it prevents children from full concentration on what they are interested in.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed routines and the childminder's interaction with children throughout the inspection.  The inspector sampled children's registration records.  The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's suitability to work with children and sampled her policies and procedures.  The inspector held conversations with the childminder, parents and children during the inspection.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder consistently monitors the environment and ensures children are kept safe from harm. She understands how to report any concerns she has about children in her care. The childminder demonstrates a strong commitment to providing a good-quality provision. She has effectively addressed recommendations from her last inspection, evaluates her practice well and has a clear vision of how to identify and deal with any areas for improvement. The childminder successfully uses the views of parents and children to help shape her service. She maintains a two-way flow of information with parents. Parents are pleased with the care of their children and how the childminder meets their needs.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder has high expectations of children, who are very attentive towards the instructions and guidance they receive from her. Children develop good communication and language skills. For example, the childminder successfully involves children in various conversations and singing songs, encouraging them to remember facts and song words, developing their memory and confidence. Moreover, to extend children's vocabulary, she explains the meaning of the new words that children hear. For example, she explains what the word 'will' means. The childminder values the diversity of children's experiences. For example, through discussions, children actively gain an understanding of people and their families. Children use a variety of technology in their activities, which helps them gain a wider understanding of the world around them and develop skills for the next stages in their learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder provides a very caring and nurturing environment. Children are happy and settled. Children receive plenty of affection and show good levels of self-esteem and confidence. The childminder effectively promotes children's health. For example, children follow good hygiene routines and talk about the benefits of eating healthily. Children have plenty of opportunities to exercise. For example, inside they play 'hide-and-seek'. Children benefit from regular play in local parks and playgrounds, where they can socialise with other children and develop their self-awareness. The childminder is a good role model and sets clear boundaries. Children behave very well and show respect to each other.
