Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extensive understanding of the procedures to take should she have any concerns about children's welfare. She continually updates her already outstanding knowledge and skills. She has excellent links with colleagues and shares high-quality practice. She keeps up to date with any changes in legislation, reads publications, and researches information to improve outcomes for children. For example, following research, children now access further outdoor learning experiences, which has a positive impact on their well-being. The childminder has identified she will pursue further training to enhance her teaching skills to an even higher level. The childminder has very strong links with other settings children attend to promote continuity in children's care and learning.

p.3

The childminder's skilful interactions promote children's curiosity. Younger children delight in playing with the extensive variety of resources the childminder provides to stimulate their senses. The childminder promotes children's communication and language skills exceptionally well through everyday activities and routines. The childminder makes excellent use of her knowledge of children to address potential gaps in development. She shares this information with parents to promote consistency in children's learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children thrive in the stimulating environment where they play and learn extremely happily. The childminder encourages children's high levels of independence and self- confidence through constant encouragement and praise. Children have excellent opportunities to experience fresh air and exercise. For example, they enjoy visits to parks and local gardens and hunts for bugs in the garden. Children learn to take very good care of themselves; for example, they choose healthy options at snack time and very young children help tidy away up. Children have excellent opportunities to learn about the world around them and explore differences and similarities within their community.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children make outstanding progress from their starting points. They are extremely motivated to learn and are keen to explore and find things out for themselves. For example, they investigate and experiment as they fill and empty containers. They show control using scoops and spoons to do so. The childminder skilfully uses this opportunity to help children gain an understanding of shape and size. They are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their education.
