This provision is good
The childminder responds warmly to children's early attempts at conversation. She encourages children to experiment with sounds and develop their language skills. Children enjoy taking part in familiar routines throughout the day. These provide structure, reinforce the expectations of the childminder and help children to settle easily. The childminder's teaching is good. She works closely with other childminders to enhance her procedures and share best practice. The childminder regularly shares written and verbal information about children's learning with parents. This shared approach helps contribute to the swift progress children make. Children are excited to explore materials and activities independently. They display persistence and are developing positive attitudes that will prepare them for the next stage in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always encourage children to achieve what they set out to do. For example, when oats and lentils get stuck in a funnel, children abandon their exploration rather than find a solution. Although the childminder has taken positive steps to increase her skills and knowledge, she has not yet focused her professional development on raising the standard of her planning to help all children achieve at the highest levels.

The inspector observed the quality of the teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder strives to deliver high-quality provision and accurately reflects on her practice. She works closely with the local advisory services and parents to carefully consider how she can improve outcomes for children. The childminder ensures she remains in touch with relevant research and developments. She assesses and minimises risks and prioritises the safety of children in her care. This helps her provide a calm, comfortable and safe environment which helps support children's learning. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder ensures that she has up-to- date information about local procedures and has an in-depth knowledge of her role in keeping children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder completes regular observation and assessment. This helps her identify activities that reinforce learning and build on the specific interests of individual children. The childminder nurtures children's development through an appropriate balance of adult interaction and quiet time for children to explore. She is responsive during care routines and encourages children to help her complete tasks wherever possible. For example, the childminder encourages children to help dress themselves and sets appropriate challenges for them to master. She supports children to demonstrate what they can do, showcasing the skills they have mastered. This helps to increase their self-confidence and motivates other children to join in and have a go. The childminder adapts and reshapes activities during their delivery in response to the needs of the children. She designs resources to help keep children interested and extend their individual learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder carefully plans outings and trips. She ensures that children experience a range of situations that reflects their wider community. Children attend toddler groups, which helps them enhance their social skills and interact with a variety of children from diverse backgrounds. The childminder recognises the importance of reflecting children's home culture within her setting. She works in partnership with parents to ensure she can accurately use key words in children's home language to provide reassurance. Children are considerate towards each other. For example, they provide reassurance and offer to share their toys. Parents make positive comments about the good selection of fresh, home- cooked meals, the healthy snacks and the daily exercise children receive.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making very good progress given their starting points. The childminder provides a range of resources and experiences which contributes to the consistent progress they make in their learning. Children enjoy their time with the childminder. They follow their own interests and lead their own learning. Gaps in children's learning close quickly.
